The academy over the last 10 years or so has proven its capable of developing Conference level players at best, so its a no from me.

2 are in Scottish Premier League, Shaw and Uhroghide.

Ben Godfrey is a regular for Everton.

Jamie Vardy turned out quite well.

George Hirst is contracted to Leicester

There's plenty if you dig deep enough

Unfortunately the majority of the youngsters aren’t ready to play for the first team yet which is why they have gone out on loan.

That's the thing..

They'll never be ready without sticking 45 games in there legs.

45 games in the legs of Dele & Aderinan and boom, they'll be valuable to the club next season.

Bannan will offer us less next year than he's offering this year

Uhroghide we signed at 19 after being released at Wimbledon

Ben Godfrey wasn't part of our Academy

Jamie Vardy we released at 15 so can hardly take credit for that

Hirst and Shaw fair enough.  We had them all the way up to 19

Which of the youngsters do you actually want to see?

As Etchesketch said, the ones who would be nearest are all out on loan, which is the right way to go about it. Regular first team football away from the pressure cooker that is Sheffield Wednesday is best for those lads. Chucking a load of kids in now would ruin them.

Anyone with pace who can kick a ball and cross it beyond the first man will do. They don't have to be great just enthusiastic and fit. Of course we keep the few good players we have, I'm sure you know who they are.

Surely you should have a knowledge if you are making a serious case for suddenly chucking them all in?

Unless you are just chucking cliches about.

I should say for a club Wednesday size and in a big catchment area our record on producing players is lamentable.

Shaw and Uhroghide not played at all yet for Celtic and probably get the odd game as sub at best.
Ben Godfrey was never on our books only had a trial.

I wouldn't describe Jamie Vardy as a Wednesday product, was kicked out at 16 which is over 18 years ago now.
George Hirst must be most hyped youngster in history of the club and nearly 5 years after making his debut has yet to score a senior goal in English football.

If we play youngsters for 45 games of a season we will get relegated ala Bolton in 2019/20.

Why do people always ask for the youth to play? It never works and you're gambling with their futures as professional footballers.

As somebody said above, look at Newcastle's u23s. They got hammered by our 2nd team, and we aren't very good.

I think we should probably change our tactics with the players we have first. Our build up play is slow by design. We have a perfectly reasonable set of players. Let’s just please stop with the endless playing out from the back! A bit of it’s fine but hit the ball into the channels now and again and get some crosses in! That’s what the teams that are beating us are doing….

Oh yeah, the biggest club in the world with an internationally renowned academy that they pump millions into every year, that one year had a special class of talent.

I'm sure we have the infrastructure in place to do exactly the same.

Them youngsters were winning FA Youth cup, most of our youngsters are nowhere near ready for first team football.

You can see that most academy teams aren't ready yet from just seeing EFL trophy results, Liverpool U21s getting destroyed by Bolton.

Maybe try one or two in cup games but to play all our kids every game would see us relegated by Christmas.

I agree a little but at that time Wednesdays young 'uns were really good. Nowadays it's the lesser London teams who get all the best of the rest. They all want to be in London Brentford etc.
