Mansfield Town V Wednesday - EFL Trophy OMDT

Recommended Posts

Usual Wednesday stuff, struggling against ******** poor opposition.

Lucky not to be losing, they've had a couple of really  good chances.

Been glimpses from a few of our players, but nothing sustained. We look comfortable playing sideways and backwards, but very uncomfortable playing forwards. As usual, no attacking threat, no chances of note and their GK had an easy game.

On that note, Wildsmith, who has been the busier of the two has done well and looked confident.

Aside from that, for all the poor officiating this season, tonight's ref has done ok. No obvious errors and tried to let the game run, that said it's not really been a competitive game so far.

Really don't get why Corbeanu doesn't start more games.

We need him on the right to provide some balance to the side and have someone that will run at defenders.

Imagine him on the right, with Shopido and Brown on the left, they would cause teams problems.

You can't honestly tell me that you think another manager wouldn't get a tune from this lot?

Their a good set of players played in a formation and with a style more opaque than concrete.

I honestly don’t think it would. Look at the last few seasons. We’ve tried every manager style in the book.

we’ve gone young and hungry in monk, that failed, we went foreign in jos and that didn’t work, we tried Pulis who’s been there done it, wore the shirt, and even he couldn’t get a tune….

we are now back with young and hungry who did well in this league and he’s now struggling.

what other road can we go down, realistically with a manager that would come to a L1 squad??

The whole club is rotten.

I'm trying hard not to be critical nowadays.

I'm sure we'll become better as the season goes on.

Off for a beer and a snack. Has to be better than the rubbish the Mrs knocked together (mashed tatties, broccoli, and Pork Schitzel in pepper sauce.

Think there's pork pie in the fridge.

Can’t help but think Moore isn’t helping himself here. Free hit to get the fans back onside with some all-out attacking football, but nope, ponderous as ever.

You can judge exactly how the game’s going to go by the movement at throw ins—no one shows for the ball at all.

Random thoughts...

Isn't Corbeanu frustrating? No end product so far.

Why doesn't Dele Bashiru get more games?

Why has Hunt gone out of favour?

Wildsmith looks much better with short hair.

Wing keeps himself busy doesn't he?

Kamberi is shyte.

Corbeanu seems to try to beat his man 3 times before he crosses, by the time he does that he's double covered.  He needs to concentrate on getting half a yard then put it in the middle. He's still a kid and playing like he's up against other kids. Maybe that's why he's not got much game time. Looks like he will be a good player given time.

Dele Bashiru, I'm still not convinced by him, seems to drift in and out.

Wildsmith never did himself much good with the hair or without it. Done ok so far though.

Mansfield are tidy but you've got to think any decent team would take them apart.

Shocking first half that.

Kamberi can’t control a ball

Sow looks like he doesn’t want to be there

Corbeanu is skillful but can’t cross or crosses way too late

Dunkley can’t run

Johnson gives the ball away pretty much every time he gets it

Dele can run forward with the ball but very rarely gets his head up and releases a pass.

Other than that playing well.

To be fair…

This game is an opportunity for some of the bit part players to show why they should start

For the most part they are showing why they are bit part players

Gibson looks smooth though and will add a better balance to have a left footer in there instead of asking Dunkley to play off his wrong side

Plus Wing looks like he has his boots on the wrong feet again

Gibson apart from one loose pass looks ok

Moores tactics nearly undid us again with Hunt getting caught upfield and the ball played into the gap with Dunkley floundering

every game it happens

Wind behind Mansfield this half as well
