Well tbh how long are you supposed to wait? The ending provides questions now as to Bond going forward.

More than a week ideally

Don't think he's moving anywhere after that tbh.

Great input

Go on then convince me I should watch a film that people say is about 30 minutes too long and has a poor plot amongst other reasons.

I’m not gonna try - it’s obviously pointless.

Just don’t understand why you decided to comment that all

So if I don't get the hype with Bond films I'm not allowed to comment or ask posters to persuade me that they're worth watching? For a film that's arguably been one of the most anticipated one for 18 months the reviews have averaged 3/5 which is a bit meh.

Tbf, it has been delayed massively due to covid.

I know but there's been so much anticipation and it's not been received as well as you'd think. If it had been 4s or even 5s I might have been tempted to see it but from what I've read it's 30 minutes or so too long and average.

Saw it tonight.

I love bond films but this one is at best mid table, and in my view the worst of the Craig films. It was a film too far , and suspect he will probably regret doing it.

It may surprise you to discover that this thread probably wasn't set up with the purpose of persuading you personally to watch a film you aren't interested in.

The morning after the film I am still almost annoyed at the film.

the plot and script are by some way the poorest of the 5 Craig films.  It was like they came up with an ending, and a decent start, and just didn’t bother with the middle of the film.  I thought Craig was doing it by numbers in the film, a bit hammy at times.  Likewise the old supporting cast of Q , M and moneypenny were very peripheral and didn’t add much to the film compared to other Craig films.

It clearly takes much from OHMSS including of course the music , but it’s an insult to use the music and some of the  themes of the greatest bond film of all in this half baked effort .

Craig leaves with two great films under his belt of the 5 he did , I just wish they finished it with a better film than this .

All I'm saying is that I've never understood the hype around Bond films and pointing out that from what I've read in this thread and in other places (see mcmigo above) it's maybe not worth the wait. This is the only Bond film I haven't seen and when it comes on the tele I'll probably sit down and watch it. Got to say the how very dare you posts are amusing though.

It’s all context really.  It’s watchable as a film but Craig is a very good actor and a terrific bond yet has had at least 2 real dud films so ultimately will be remembered as an excellent bond rather than someone who was in brilliant bond films, with the exception of Royale which is a classic.

As noted it is the opposite of Lazenby who wasn’t a great bond but had the best film of the lot to go at .

As I’ve said before, what I loved about DC as Bond is the way they tapped into Bonds frailty- dealing with his history etc, which obvs is down to the writers but Craig played it so well IMO. My fav bond tbh but you can’t really judge him against say Connery because they were essentially 2 different characters

Likewise my favourite bond by a mile and a tremendous actor. Casino royale was the shot in the arm the series needed and is an outstanding film.

Tough one to follow in terms of next actor and also the type of bond film to come.  Go to gritty and real and you lose the fantasy element of bond films and it becomes borne/ reacher esque. But I think audiences don’t warm to the ridiculous any more in bond films, again probably because casino royale reset it all so well.

personally I would shoot for next one being a bit undercover in something as mental as QAnon and play on some of the ethics ( relationships whilst undercover) as well has having some nutter at the top of it all .

I’ve just seen this and I am absolutely furious they killed Bond. We had the Bond themes on the way in on the car, on the way back ‘we have all the time in the world’ came on, I just switched it off, I’m that annoyed

The decision to use that music was a joke.  It is a very powerful and emotive piece of music from what many, including me, regard as the greatest bond film of all.  They clearly wanted this to be an OHMSS 50 years on but the new film is a shadow of OHMSS.

To me the film smacked of Craig having dictated the whole thing.  He clearly was not up for film 5 , and I suspect therefore leveraged the situation to say - I'll only do it if.....  Hence why we had a bland female lead, a bland baddie, and leaving the series in that way.  The whole film was about Daniel Craig and there is absolutely nothing at all memorable about anything else in it.

I enjoyed it but didn't really love it.

It's a solid Bond movie but I'm not entirely sure it's going to stand the test of time like Casino Royale. No entirely sure it'll warrant repeated viewing either.

Not Craig's worst outing as Bond but how do you beat Question of Sport in that category?

I'm slightly concerned about who will follow in his footsteps also.
