Alan Irvine was one of the most respected coaches in football. So many times on under the cosh you hear players praise him as a person. But... could he get results. Not change style or tactics and maybe get a frustrating draw. Quite simply, ever since Carlos' second season, we've had a wealth of attacking talent yet choose to play within ourselves. That leads to having to hang on to leads whilst giving the opposition every chance. Which also leads to hesitation, nerves and a resignation throughout that goals against are inevitable. The next manager (and there's going to be one soon because this isn't going to change with Moore) simply has to take the shackles off our talent and attack teams, impose ourselves, get the home crowd rocking and put teams to the sword. The lack of attacking intent kills atmospheres at home, puts pressure on our players and gives the opposition every encouragement. 0742 Posted September 25, 2021 Share Posted September 25, 2021 The tactics are poor, we're shoe horning players in to a dysfunctional system and it doesn't seem like we will change that There's no intensity, ever, yet we have the players to pressure teams for 90 minutes! The players are at each other far too quickly and too often, that's an alarming sign in itself He has clear favourites - despite them playing poor (i.e. Palmer who has been sub par all season thus far) His substitutions are often poor, disrupt the teams shape or slow the intensity even further I'm not enjoying watching us, but maybe we do just need to cut Moore some slack and let him crack on, what's the worst that could happen? 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
