Cotswolds

Recommended Posts

Realised we’ve got a travelodge voucher to use from when our holiday was cancelled last year.

Looking at a couple of nights at the weekend in the Cotswolds, probably around December time.

Any suggestions of the best places to go?  Not going to be looking to do much where there’s going to be crowds ie theatres if thats any help.

Bourton on the Water is very nice but can get very crowded.

There is Stow on the Wold and Burford which are typically Cotswold. The Cotswold Wildlife Park is just down the road from Burford is excellent.

Bibury has a famously picturesque row of cottages but not much else and gets very busy.

The Slaughters, Upper and Lower are a couple of beautiful villages and tend to be quite quiet.

Then there is Woodstock and Blenheim Palace

Most of those are just nice places without a great deal to do.

Oxford is not too far.

Went on a walking holiday to the Cotswolds last year doing some of the Cotswold Way and Gloucestershire Way - Chipping Campden is very nice at the northern end not far from Stratford on Avon.

Broadway is nice too- you can do a good walk up to Broadway Tower which has fabulous views.

There is also Stow on the Wold and Moreton in Marsh -and possibly Cheltenham which is on the fringe of the Cotswolds.

Used to work in Corsham which is nice to stay and about 20 minutes from Bath, plenty of walks and ale houses, Stow on the Wold is nice too as is most of the Fosse Way (A429) which has many quaint villages etc off it and easy access for your car
