Derby- Enter Administration

Just read that they are accepting a punishment rather than going to inquiry etc in future. If only we'd done that we'd have stayed up. Shame our owner didn't have the sense that derby's seems to have. Or the contacts.

If we’d done that wouldn’t we have been on -9pts? (12 puts minus 3pts). In the end we got it reduced to -6pts.

Can’t help but think that starting on -12pts had a huge negative effect on the club, managers and players. Took us age to catch up, and every time we did we didn’t pull ahead.

Derby are fortunate to have score 7pts already reducing the deficit dramatically without the same pressure.

Don't have an opinion on the proposed deduction as such, but negotiating a punishment doesn't sit easy.

Either a club has broken the rules and therefore subject to the punishment set out for that misconduct, or they haven't. If they haven't broken any rules, there shouldn't be a punishment, certainly not as punitive as deducting points.

This reads like the EFL negotiating on behalf of other clubs to weaken an opponent. Let's not forget that those who actually did (flagrantly) break the rules and achieved promotion faced no similar punishment. Where were the 12 point deductions when those clubs were relegated back to EFL jurisdiction?

That’s a good point. Weren’t QPR fined £50m but just refused to pay it. Did anything happen to them? And Bournemouth massively broke FFP. Didn’t Stoke lose something like£93 m last year?

it all seems incredibly brittle.

Max points deduction for the FFP breach is 12 points

They have accepted 9 rather than taking a chance on appeal

Other charges relate to HMRC mis payments which don’t carry a points deduction unless HMRC force admin and only then would an additional 12 points be deducted

Whilst all this has been going on Derby have also been severely restricted in signing players. This may also continue in January as well

my guess is that once the point deduction is agreed the 3 years accounts will be published and we will see they have breached FFP by miles

Reading are the most annoying ones. 120m losses over the past 3 years and no charge as of yet
