beloved_aunt
I think the lack of a holding midfielder is our biggest problem at the moment. We’re playing three neat and tidy passing midfielders for all want the same thing and end up on the same places. None of them protect the defence with often invites pressure on our back four. We need someone with a defensive instinct to win the ball back and give it to the more creative midfielders. If Luongo is going to be out for a while I’d consider moving Hutch there just to cover this for a while. 4

I think you are correct hutchinson should be in midfield, there is cover defensively we need to tackle in the middle of the park
Philb125
Is it odd that a long for a day when we have 2/3 all round players that play in our midfield. Not specialist creators or defensive shields…. But players that can pass, run, tackle, dribble, head, shoot. Players that can hold their own and not need another player to do part of their job for them. I often feel we’d be a better team with three Luongo type players than having the star quality of a Bannan or Defensive efforts of a Hutch or Joey. Out of the current crop Luongo and Adeniran would be the first two names on the midfield then take your pick with Byers, Bannan or Wing to finish it off.
debram
Perfect role for hutch, we have plenty of defensive cover.
Barnsleyowl1996
When Denis and massimo are out , hutch Dele or even Paterson should play in there
ZicoSterland2
Hutchinson has been solid in our defence but if teams are walking through us then this has to be addressed. We do look full of flair and creativity in the middle of the park but if no one is there to win the ball and shut down attacks it counts for nothing and teams even at this level will work out we can be out battled in midfield. If Hutchinsons legs can take it I would move him to defensive cover to stop this happening. There is no doubt he can do this job.
FreshOwl
We need a bruiser in there Again, we’ve gone too soft with our CM signings

And getting booked . If In a 3 , so playing behind let’s say bannan and wing it could work . That said Dennis and luongo will be in front of him for that berth But if injured like yesterday that’s what we could and probably should revert to

You can have Hutch playing holding alongside more of a ball player in say Byers. Then have three behind the striker, probably Bannan with some pace either side.

In 2 years we have seen very little and I doubt its going to change.

We just need that bit of bite in midfield.
Shetland Owl
Everyone was crying out for Hutch to be moved to CB and as a result he has received less yellow cards. He could be a short term option in midfield if Luongo and Denis are unfit. Byers/ Bannan doesn't work would rather see Dele and Bannan to add a bit of steel especially in away games Midfield of Bannan, Denis, Luongo would work for me
meggoisgod
I think our most effective 3 would be Adeniran luongo and wing
Kendo Nagasaki
Don’t really get the obsession with a beast or a bruiser in there, for me we lacked energy and desire. Camara covered every blade of grass, both defending and supporting his frontmen and we had no one willing to do the hard yards and track him. Plymouth midfield had the appetite and desire our fancy Dan 3 desperately lacked. UTO
adamwestsleftear
We had a such a bad performance it's natural to want to change. I would however stick with the midfield three that works hard and stays somewhat fluid. Adeniran brings box to box energy and it would be a waste to tell him to simply hold. This is the inspiration for him, Moore telling him he can be so much more than a sitter.. Bannan works best in a three and has Been great for us this year mostly in this system. Especially with adeniran around him adding some muscle. Wing for me has been a bit disappointing..and is the most vulnerable. But he's still shown enough quality to persevere with. Maybe drop him for a game,to give him a kick.. And give dele a go.. another big strong player who looked decent in the pizza cup... Massimo is a loss as always. The sort of player you would want to involve at a time like this when you just want to sure it up a bit

mcmigo
I don’t want to ever see Sam Hutchinson in midfield. His performances there last season were a complete joke. I would play any other player in the squad including joe wildsmith in midfield ahead of Hutchinson. 1
adamwestsleftear
Byers can sit a bit deeper and spray passes. Does some nice pointing and shouting also. But as we saw..we lacked protection with him in there. Him and bannan with wing might be just a little two lightweight. It was yesterday. hate the idea of hutch in midfield. He's had a bad one but he's more than capable for taking personal responsibility and getting his head together with Dom and sorting it out like the experienced pros they are. Seemed to me that they got pulled out of position a lot and didn't get much protection from Byers and the others
