The premier league teams that wanted to sign him in the summer before he agree to stay here did not want him to be playing a league below the conference. How do you know that we 'left it to the last minute'? What planning went on behind the scenes for our youth players over the course of the summer? If a Premier League team had genuinely wanted him, do you not reckon they'd have come in for him? The fact that he's nowhere near getting a game for a League One club suggests that even if they had made a move for him, he'd have been loaned out somewhere lower down the pyramid before long, just as we've done. 1
Andrew_Owl
Hope he proves me wrong but 20 years old and loaned out to a very low level, can't see him doing anything here.

Getting loans with league clubs is really competitive and very difficult. Nothing wrong with conference teams, there are lot of decent players who play at a good standard. 2 1

Loans like these do players the world of good, can't replicate competitive football in the U23's no matter how hard clubs try. In some ways yes, but it’s yet another example of how poor our youth system is, it’s below the conference ffs. Are we incapable of developing players that are good enough to be loaned out to clubs that actually play in the football league.
Kopparberg
Could it be a money issue ? As in us holding out for someone in League 2 to pay his wages whilst he’s on loan with them, nobody offered to so he therefore gets sent out now - probably with us paying the wage. mogbad
I presume clubs like Hampton and Richmond train 2 or 3 evenings a week, how does that affect a young player used to training 4 or 5 days a week?

Why do we assume a League 2 clubs want him? Every club in the top two divisions are trying to get their young lads out on loan to a Professional standard. Perhaps Hagan just isn’t quite good enough for Lg2 level yet.
Beauchief Owl
Don't understand why he didn't go on loan to one of three L2 teams wanting him or to Aldershot in the NL who were also linked in the transfer window. Even if he scores a few goals what will that really tell us?

adamwestsleftear
Just from the couple of friendlies I saw. Hagan looked direct and has some pace .,but he time and time again lost it trying to take people on.. He's got potential just needs to improve his end product. This is a perfect chance so good luck to the young man and let's hope he gets some goals and comes back improved..
morganowl
It will do them all good to get games. They could all have started this season in the team if we signed no1 , these players are miles off league 1 standard just at the min.
casbahowl
it's symptomatic unfortunately of PL teams being allowed to stockpile players whom they have no intentions of ever playing. These players take up all the available loan places at the lower end of the PL & Championship who then in turn loan their prospects to LG1 & 2 leaving LG1 & 2 prospects to find game time lower down the football pyramid. 3

You are correct our youth system is poor, hopefully these loans we are now seeing are the first steps to improving it.
Barnsleyowl1996
Good loan move if he does well , he can look to be loaned out in jan to maybe a league above OR stay there and progress . Assess when needed , only 20, might take couple of loans but see how he gets on . rather all our young players started lower and do well as apposed to being on a bench in league 2!

Not sure I see any benefit playing clogger football in league 6. That was before we signed 14 players though. To be honest I was looking forward to some youngsters getting a chance this season but its not going to happen now.

Yes the window has shut for League clubs but only Alex Hunt of the four sent out has managed to be playing as high as the top Conference League. S72 Owl
Good that we’ve started getting young lads out. But it’s a couple of years too late for these lads to be playing at that level. Hopefully in the future we can start getting 16-18 year olds out on loan to clubs. But it’s still a step in the right direction.
ashamanic
Good move, but it does show why Moore didn't feel these players were capable of doing a job in league one
