bobness
Will never forget Garry Monk's eyes popping out of his head when DC tells the reporters that Monk's been tasked with a "top 2" finish.

SallyCinnamon
I gave Monk some stick. But looking back he was in charge during such a turbulent period. Possibly the most turbulent in my lifetime.
Popular Post mcmigo
Did a brilliant job to recover from Bruce quitting on the eve of the season, and got us up to 3rd. The Chairman then decided to stop paying players, and everything went wrong. Worth noting that Moore and Pulis also could not get a tune out of players not being paid. Monk was our best shot of staying up last season, with a pragmatic and defensive way of playing that scraped together over a point a game. That recognised the lack of firepower in the squad, and mental strength of a squad that was unable to recover from going a goal behind. The subsequent managers simply did not understand how shot the squad was, recalled Hutchinson and Westwood, conceded more goals and got us relegated. 11

Yes he got us to 3rd but at the time Monk said himself he’d not had much time to implement his ideas on the training pitch. Once he did find time, and made the decision to omit Westwood and Hutchinson from the squad we suddenly become a much worse team. 9

The subsequent decision to recall Westwood, and sign Hutchinson, meant we went from 23rd to 24th by end of the season. The training pitch ideas of subsequent managers made absolutely no difference last season.

Possibly the most turbulent in my lifetime. Combination of this period for the club and soulless lockdown football nearly killed off my interest in the club and the entire sport. I had more faith in the future of SWFC when we were sat on the High Court steps about to be killed off by the Taxman, than looking at this image of Gary Monk.

Pulis was absolute dog-shuffle. If ever a journeyman wanting a pay cheque and not willing to work in the context he agreed to work in.

royalowlisback
Once he left for the lead role on 'Resident Alien', both parties were better off.
room0035
The start of the down turn, the modern day David Pleat, talks a good game, delivers a team worst than the sum of its parts. I really wish we had signed the correct Gary (Rowett) former Birmingham manager, we would at the very least still be in the championship now.
