Lively , Marseille v Nice

Recommended Posts

So Payet is getting bottles and coins thrown at him repeatedly all game, he finally has enough and throws one back.

Yet he is at fault?

Good on him I say. Footballers take some right stick and fans don’t like it when they get a bit back.

Tough.

It’s not going on him.

He has a duty, as a professional footballer, to rise above it.

There’s clearly a problem in France with missiles being thrown onto the pitch. If that was in England, there would be hell on. The league as, clubs would step in and, band handed out swiftly. The French seem to see this as part and parcel of the game.

That doesn’t give Payet an excuse to throw the objects back. What does he achieve by doing it?

Nah not having that.

Some football fans think they’re untouchable. He was getting pelted with objects for most of the game. He snapped on the 73rd minute. Don’t blame him. It’s alright sitting watching it and saying he shouldn’t retaliate, but it’s different when you’re in the heat of the moment. They could have chucked anything at him for all he knew.

He wasn’t the only Marseille player who had enough. They all kicked off when he got hit again.

Only ones to blame here are the brain dead morons in the stands

So it’s not the fans fault who were launching missiles and projectiles all game.

One player has enough, gives a bit back and the fans use it as an excuse to get on the pitch and cause a scene.

The fault lies with the behaviour of the fans in the stands. They were clearly looking for trouble all game.

Morons the lot of em.

The fault lays with French football as a whole.

It’s not just Nice fans.

Under NO circumstances is it acceptable for anyone to launch missiles. The fact the fans repeatedly do it, doesn’t excuse Payet. If he’s got a problem, why doesn’t he looks at his own club? Marseille fans subjected Neymar to far worse.

Any fan caught throwing, gets banned. It’ll soo stop if the clubs want it to.

If he was some kind of superhuman with perfect throwing aim to target the exact fan who threw it at him in the first place then sure, maybe you'd have a fair argument.

But that's not going to happen is it; he's just going to hit some random kid or someone else in the crowd who had nothing to do with it. Then, using that same logic, whoever that random fan was who got hit would be perfectly entitled to throw it back at someone else. That's just going to end up with a whole bunch of people getting a bit mad... which is basically what happened.

If I was Payet, I would say sorry, say he will accept any suspension, and then quite rightly say the clubs and particularly the French FA have a duty of care to players. They have failed with that duty of care and need to be held accountable... And with that, we ant playing no more till there is some accountability from the top

Have to say, his initial reaction to the bottle hitting him is pathetic.

Are you trying to say he dived / went down too easily!? What a load of rubbish

Whilst I don't agree with him throwing it back in to the fans (unless it was back at the fan who did it), I can understand why he did if he'd suffered it all game

Similar incidents at Marseilles other games this season. Almost at every corner kick their opponents fans were chucking stuff. Think it was at Montpellier a couple of weeks back where the ref took the teams off with 5 minutes to go. May have been the same ref as today.

I'm sure the Marseilles players are a bit tired of it. But looking at the video it doesn't seem like the security cordon was very good. French football has to sort this out PDQ
