Hutchinson

For me Dunkley would deputise for Iorfa on the right when required. Looks uncomfortable on the left. Hopefully Gibson can step up to the plate on the left when required.

We'll need  Dunkley this season to combat certain teams with aerial threat though. He's the only player we have that could be described as dominating in the air.

Dunkley brought a lot more strength and aerial power when he came on.  Against a very physical Rotherham team who make no mistake will bombard us in the air all game, it might not be altogether a bad thing if Dunkley plays on Saturday.  Hutch is a much better player on the ball but against some of the ultra physical teams Dunkley will give us that extra power and strength particularly away from home.  There needs to be a bit of common sense with Dunkley like, if he has a man close to him don't play ridiculous passes to him in tight areas.

If we were knocking it long all the time then you’d get some complaining about that and of course we’re going to concede at some point but let’s be honest given the general doom and gloom on here during the summer we’d have surely taken 7 points out of 9 and 3 clean sheets?

No not on here, we’ve taken the 7 points off 3 of the current bottom 6 🙄 Let’s face it we could win 3-0 at Toytown and there would be some on here who would say we were lucky? Moore has got an impossible job IMO to please our fan base. Come on you had some on here who were happy with Garry Monk when we were scoring sod all and conceding sh!loads 😖

We are going to have to cope with injuries. There are a lot of games coming thick and fast. But I think the squad that Moore has got together will be able to cope. He has got cover for most positions, and once everyone is up to speed we should be in for a great season. Windass need to get fit asap and he should be scoring goals for fun at this level. Uto

My thoughts exactly regarding playing Dunkley against Rotherham. They play a direct style with plenty of balls into the box. Should, hopefully, suit Dunkley better then Hutchinson.

He's  a decent enough player at this level but playing out from the back isnt his strongest suit.

Agreed. But let’s not be under any illusion, Baz, Byers, every player hit stray passes last night. At the end of the day, every player cannot have every skill. We want our defenders to be solid and Dunkley is. He may have had some nerves, is lacking a bit of match sharpness, once or twice players made runs, he passed into space and they had stopped there runs - making the pass look worse than it was. Either way, he’s a good defender, as shown last night, who isn’t Beckenbauers love child.

Was gutted with that injury. Said in a thread prior to the game that I'd have rested him. He was looking so class before as well. That said Dunkley came in and did a job.

Most of the players look very comfortable playing it out as well which while unnerving at times means we retain the ball better rather than just hoofing it up field.

Said the same about resting Hutch and got lambasted for it.

How many times has he picked up an injury playing midweek having played the previous Saturday?

We really should be learning these lessons.

Dunkley is a donkey

And let’s not forget his idiotic challenge at the death at Derby is the reason we’re now plying our trade in this god forsaken pub league again

Hutch is a class apart

Dunkley won everything in the air but his distribution was poor, especially compared to Hutchinson. I think it affected our ability to control the game

Dunkerly would be perfect for the centre of a back 3 with a cb that's competent on the ball either side of him as he's  immense in the air, strong and can tackle.

It wasn't a problem last season.

Since he came back in January, he played all 9 midweek games we had. Then played all bar one of the matches the following Saturday.

He also played Fri and Mon over Easter.

So missed 1 match after picking up a knock.
