Brentford 1 up on the hapless Blue Scousers.

Everton are just awful.

Even when Everton were bad in the past, they always had some guts and spirit.

Now they are such a soft touch. They've wasted million upon million on absolute dross for the most part.

TBF brentford look pretty crap too!

They do need to win games like this though cos they're in trouble otherwise

At least with Brentford you can say they are a newly promoted side.

Everton have spent hundreds of millions of pounds to get worse.

Honestly, the only genuine success I can think of that has been signed since the money came in was Idrissa Gueye and he fooked off to PSG.

I think it goes back to no team ever being happy with where they are

Everton have tried to punch upwards and while chasing that dream have been reckless and not had a strategy

Arsenal and Spurs have done similar

Fans need to understand where they are as clubs - and Everton fans must know that they are not a powerhouse than can realistically smash their way onto the top 4 and become residents

I'd say that any club that can't win the premier (all but 3-4) should go all out to win the FA Cup and make sure they stay competitive in the PL - maybe have a tilt at the europa in a good season

Expectation management has gone out of the window at all levels of the game

Ironically, Everton were one of the "big 5" behind the Premier League back in the day.

They're so far off that these days.

At least with Moyes, they had an identity and were a good side, capable of challenging for the top 6/7.

Now, there is just nothing to them.

Good on Carrick

Be interesting to see what the new fella makes of Ronaldo.

Demands high pressing, on the front attacking football...which old CR7 can't really do these days.
