Agree with this, not seen enough of Adeniran yet but happy for him to start if he’s good enough.  I agree with Brown playing too,  I’m not convinced by Palmer as a left back.

Key thing here is the depth chart is looking better now:

GK: Peacock-Farrell, Wildsmith

RB: J. Hunt, Palmer

LB: Brown, Galvin

LCB: Hutchinson, Dunkley

RCB: Iorfa, Brennan

DCM: Adeniran, Luongo

CM: Bannan, A. Hunt

CAM: Wing, Dele-Bashiru

LW: Windass, Shodipo

RW: Corbeanu, Green

ST: Kamberi, Paterson, Adedeyin

to loan out?: Hagan, Waldock, possibly A. Hunt if we get in extra CM (Byers, etc)

I actually think that’s the most balanced our squad has looked in a LONG time and any extra additions at this point are either a bonus or cover in case we get silly offers for Bannan or Windass.

Think this will be the team with Windass and Shodipo out injured.

Hunt.      Iorfa.       Hutch.     Palmer

                 Adeniran

         Wing.        Bannan

Corbeanu   Kamberi   Johnson

It's a total gamble playing with effectively a totally new front 4 but feel Kamberi additional movement vs Patterson will keep Charlton defending more deeply giving our midfield a bit more space to operate.

Wing requires movement ahead in order to play in between the lines and hopefully we'll see him and Ronnie Corbett interchange down the right.

Johnson is a done deal so that should give us width and a left footed option down LW so for this reason have gone Palmer at LB for additional defensive nous and experience v Brown.

Adeniran is in CDM position due to his greater ground coverage and mobility vs Luongo who from looks of it on Sunday is still not match fit and probably needs a few more weeks to get up to speed. He could be critical later in season so no point risking him.

Have to say am pretty happy vs where we were a few weeks ago, if we can confirm Johnson, Byers and 1x additional striker I think we'll be OK going into season, with a wage bill more commensurate with our income. Still a few big earners floating around but Bannan has chance to be the best player in this league and would love to see him find his shooting booits this season.

Peace. UTO

Why do people keep writing their teams with central midfielder Wing out wide. Is it just because he has “wing” in his name?

Thanks for this. Also I would say we need another CB (a left footer really, is anyone rumoured?), a ST and maybe another RW (so Green can compete for LW, his more favourite position and Windass can play ST too.)

I wasn't looking forward to this season, but I am now. It's refreshing to actual see different players who all seem like good signing, it's a pity we didn't do this before. Can't wait to watch us on Saturday.

I agree the squad is looking really decent. We can’t know for sure yet as we’ve no idea how well Kamberi, Corbeanu, Adeniran, Shodipo and Green will look in reality,

I’d look at it differently. Some of the players can play more than one position, which makes our squad look even deeper.

GK: Peacock-Farrell, Wildsmith

RB: J. Hunt, Palmer

LB: Palmer, Brown

CB: Iorfa, Hutchinson, Dunkley, Palmer

CM: Bannan, Wing, Luongo, Paterson, Adeniran, Dele-Bashiru

Winger: Windass, Corbeanu, Shodipo, Green

ST: Kamberi, Corbeanu, Paterson, Windass, Adedeyin

Slight concern about our lack of left-footers in defence. Not only does that make defending harder, it also makes it less comfortable playing the ball out through the left and side, and harder to clear your lines under pressure near our LB.

I’d like to see one more proper CF found. We’ve only Kamberi, and even if he is excellent he’s bound to have time off.

Considering where we were even just a few weeks ago, I’m fantastically happy with the squad. We normally flirt with the wrong end of the league first season in League One - don’t think that’ll happen. Anything close to top 6 or even top 2 will be a brilliant achievement from Moore.

For the cream on the cake just need a proper already achieving it strike force. But even then, we do have Windass to come back in when fit.

Peacock-Farrell

Hunt Iorfa Hutchinson Galvin

Johnson Luongo Wing Bannan

Kamberi Corbeanu

I don’t rate Palmer especially as a LB, didn’t think Brown looked a LB and I do like what I’ve seen of Galvin. However a new LB is something I’d like.

and a proven striker

            Peacock-Farrell

Hunt Iorfa Hutchinson Brown

                 Adrenalin

        Wing              Bannan

Corben    Little Dave   Shodipo

This gives us four things:

A strong defence

Legs in midfield

Creativity in midfield

Pace and mobility up front

The front 3 lack experience and will need a few games to understand each other. But, if it works, it could be more exciting than we have seen for a while. Sims and Johnson are more experienced alternatives. Patto can switch in and out with little Dave.

As it stands for Charlton I would go with

BPF

Hunt

Iorfa

Hutch

Palmer

Bannan

Luongo

Shodipo

Wing

Green

Paterson

bench:

theo

johnson (if he signs )

byers as above

adenrian

Brown

dunkley

kamberi

think green could well find himself out of the team to Theo / Marv before long if he doesn’t provide quickly
