That really is a big blow for us, he was looking like our most important player this season.

*sighs*

What forward options do we actually have now? Paterson + some kids from the development squad yet to play a professional game? 😅

Our list of players we need is pretty long already but you’d think another forward would be #1 now? Especially if Windass does end up missing the first 20+ games.

Well, this isn't good. While Windass is in no way the sort of quality player any side should build their team around, I do worry that he would make the difference between being relatively comfortable in the top half and struggling at the bottom.

If we had sold him we could have got a few million for a player to be injured at another club!

A few million? Millwall offer was reported as £400,000 and was rightly turned down. Who knows if he would have been injured if he’d gone elsewhere. Hindsight really  is a wonderful thing.

Sorry, should have read the whole thread before replying.

Greene and Hagan??

Green is a winger and Hagan is an untested kid.

It's going to be a long, hard season if we don't sign at least two proper strikers

Agree, we have no proper strikers at the club. Paterson is a RB, Windass an attacking midfielder/winger, same goes for Green, Shodipo, Adedoyin, Hagan, notwithstanding that Adedoyin, Hagan and Green all spent time out injured last season, and this already, while Windass looks like he's going to be out for a while too.

Our injury blight has lasted about 20 years. I’ve never heard of a club with such bad luck in terms of injuries

Partly due to signing players late in the transfer window, without a pre season and expecting them to go straight into playing two games a week. At least in L1, most games are on a Saturday.
