Inspector Lestrade
https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-wednesday-told-how-much-21140731 Would it be money well spent, or would it be spent on say a striker, if anyone remembers what one of those are? Popular Post WalthamOwl
It if means Dawson and Wildsmith don’t play then yes I think it would be money well spent. 12
catdog1121
No, we are not going to be pushing for promotion, nor will we be near the bottom so a waste of money.. Move on..
Gob_Bluth
Surely we could pickup a keeper for 300k that could do a job without it being temporary.
Southie_Owl
Confusing as we were told we weren’t allowed to spend any money, and if loan fees are allowed then why not £300k on a permanent transfer too 4

torryowl
a keeper who has a prem contract .......can we afford him ? we could finish up having 3 keepers costing us circa 30k or more a week .
ChapSmurf
I must admit, I'm not sure on this one. With Wildsmith/Dawson, we will only end up mid-table at best, due to our lack of firepower up front. I'm really not sure if £300k on a 'keeper would propel us much higher.
Rogers
I think it crazy for a league one club to pay out this sort of cash for a season loan. Might as well find a keeper for available around the free to £500k mark.
Doghouse Daz
Stick with what we've got, and put it towards a striker. I've total confidence in the defence. None up front.

If, as reported, we can't pay any transfer fees, then you'd assume this would also extend to loan fees as well. Unless we were hoping there'd be no loan fee and Burnely have just slapped £300k on which has caught us by surprise? WatfordOwl
We needed a new keeper, the other 2 unfortunately haven't proven themselves consistently over the time they've had chances. Remains to be seen if this lad is the answer, but at least we are attempting to strengthen areas that are weak.
wilfsmith
This would totally go against our ‘new’ recruitment policy. Surely we can find a decent League 1 standard keeper for less than that and hopefully sell them on at a later date.

Unless we were hoping there'd be no loan fee and Burnely have juts slapped £300k on which has caught us by surprise? Yes I assumed that Burnley wanting a loan fee rules us out, maybe some reporters are just missing making that point. A permanent transfer fee would surely be deemed a better use of money by the EFL as we could make money from a resale, rather than loan fees which is effectively money we wouldn’t get back

Bouncing Owl
Don’t think we should pursue this. Not keen on blowing £300k on a loan fee for a GK. Not sure with the situation on our finances but if there is any money available, I think we need to spend it up front.
Andysowls
We only need a 30+ year old free agent (Not Westwood ffs) in league 1.

1867Heaven
300k for the season with a reasonable pre agreed amount to sign permanent IF we get promoted then I’d say yes, 300k just to get him ready for Burnley to either use him or make a profit themselves then I’d look elsewhere.
