i would too but im sure that wont be allowed.  if we price it too cheap and get 3000 it would 100% cost the club money . i go to all league fa cup and league games . but unless it was a day out in york (cant national league north oh dear) there is no way im going to these games

Same here, FA and League Cup ok. Don't mean to be arrogant  but just not interested in Papa Cup etc.

TBH probably think twice about going to the Final if we got to it.

It’d be an embarrassing day out.

Only if we lose, but we all know that that’s not going to happen.

I certainly wouldn’t be embarrassed if we took 50,000 fans to Wembley and won. No matter who were playing.

Spot on there. If English Football are serious about reducing  fixture congestion, Then the ' Papa Johns Trophy ' has to be looked at again. The Group stages need to be scrapped ASAP.

I think they can play a limited number of overage players though like when we have  first teamers returning from injury / out of favour in our U23 games.

It's possibly the case, but this is not the same as an U23 side which as you suggest can feature overage players.

Either way these teams are likely to be weaker than a genuine U23 side. Might provide us with a look at some possible players to take on loan in the future, however.

I’d take a Wednesday v Sunderland Netflix special at Wembley…

Not sure Papa Smurf cup winners would look good on the honours board.

So when in the group stage its obviously 3 points for a win and 0 for a loss but if its a draw both teams get 1 point and then they have a penelty shootout and the winner gets an extra point !!

From the rules section of their website :(ix)  If the scores are level at the end of the group Match then each Club is awarded one point. In addition the Match will be followed immediately by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with procedures as approved by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and the Club that wins the penalty shootout will be awarded an additional one point.

That is how league format was played in Yugoslavia in late 80's and it worked quite well back then.

Wow.

Someone figured out a way to make penalty shootouts low stakes and boring.

Remember when they used to do the 'so many touches and then shoot' from the half way line thing if the match was a draw?

I guess normal penalties just weren't exciting enough.  Good times...
