EFL to go in hard on SWFC

Recommended Posts

So let me get this right, we try to sort out the finances and that combined with a points deduction relegates us..

So we are in a lower league which means less income so we need to sort out the finances again, but because we are going to go over it we get points deduction again...

Is that not double jeopardy.

I can understand why they might have it in for Derby as they got away with it, surely we have been punished enough and are trying to balance the books.

just to remind you.   The EFL are the clubs. They vote all this in/out

That's the problem in a nutshell though.  Clubs will always vote in self interest and will never vote for what is best as a whole.

Should be an independent board running the league's and setting the rules.

This can’t be to do with the non filing of the accounts surely can it?  Especially given that the government gave grace to file 3 months later.
So government say we can do one thing. Yet EFL say no you can’t. Prove that one in court. AGAIN!!!!!

Wonder then if it’s something even worse.
Go man ffs just go please.

It's nothing to do with the government or HMRC.

The EFL ask to see accounts so they can make sure clubs are following their rules. The government doesn't have a say in WHEN the EFL wants to see them.

Why does any club have to be governed by the EFL? They've done a horrendous job for the last 15yrs or so. Time to breakaway.

Chansiri is already seeing to this. In a couple of years we will have broken away into The National League although Im sure that he will find a way to screw that up too.

It's not difficult.

Don't try to bend or break the rules, don't get punished.

There is only one person to blame for this situation, and they don't work for the EFL.

I don’t think any on this thread is suggesting we haven’t broken to rules, it’s more about the continued punishment against us.

we committed the crime and served our punishment, but yet we are still being vilified.

we can blame chancer for a lot of things, the pandemic and loss of income it caused is not one of them. The EFL need to recognise the unique situation all clubs are in.

It's never ending.

What is the end game? Will they only be happy when they've put certain clubs out of business.

Hopefully the endgame is preventing people like Chansiri from wanting to get involved with English football at all.  It would almost be worth it just for that.

For us to not exist?

Not exactly a small price to pay.

Seeing as we are now in a different league, with different FFP rules to the championship (wages no more than 80% of turnover now, rather than the £39m loss) this can't be a continuation of the previous case.

Derby will be getting dry-shafted once they resubmit their last 3 years accounts, expect a 20+ points deduction there.

We are probably falling foul of the players missing payments OR we are lumped in with the other 8 clubs who took advantage of the late accounts filing covid rules the government brought in. The same reason 10 clubs were placed in embargo at the end of last year. This is not new, breaking news, just Nixon filling a slow week with the transfer window being so slow due to the Euros.

The delayed accounts scheme was also taken up by the EFL by the way...
