That’s the thing though. The owners, or at least representatives of the owner, get together 3 or 4 times a year.

They have ample opportunity to say enough is enough, so why don’t they.

Its a member club with voting rights on issues causing conflict.

FFP was voted on and agreed as was the solidarity payment distribution. Parachute payments are down to the PL.

However the voting club in the EFL given that parachute payments is a PL has a majority of 2 bit owners of small clubs, as an ego trip for themselves with no intention of challenging for the PL so I don't see things changing soon for the likes of us, forest, Derby and Middlesbrough...

It might also be worthwhile considering that other than Shaw/ Pickford (goal) that the entire England defence, which is yet to concede a goal is from south Yorkshire and then looking through the entire squad pretty much nobody is from Manchester/ Liverpool - yet domestically these are the super clubs...

In answer to the OP.

It's done the way it is to give relegated EPL clubs an advantage over everyone else, pure and simple.

Their is nothing 'fair' about it whatsoever.

It was also done to encourage promoted clubs to invest to try and make the lower part of the Premier League competitive.

Well it isn't working for the clubs that are promoted without also having a big investor to put further money into the clubs... The result for those without this is a maximum of 1yr in the PL before relegation..... Then a spiral from EFL rules actually being imposed and so most likely further relegation as a result...

EH?

The only people who get punished by the EFL are those who CHOOSE to deliberately break the rules

Financial Fair Play, laughable.

In the Championship, half the clubs benefit from some form of parachute payment and half are likely to be shackled by spending restrictions, possible embargo s and points deductions if the latest rumblings are true. They ought to be called the Financial Unfair Play Rules IMO.

Correct.

And rules that were accepted, by vote, by Championship clubs.

Regards fairness….there’s never ever been fairness in football, check the statistics…the bigger clubs with bigger crowds resulting in a bigger income always seen to have had more success.

One needs to think back about why FFP was introduced. It relates to a farcical period where several clubs were gambling building up massive debts…then going into admin and starting again debt free. It’s a disgrace that some clubs went into admin twice.

The game was a mess and it was thought only a matter of time before clubs went bust.

Therefore FFP was voted in and agreed as a good idea by the EFL clubs.

Since it’s introduction clubs going into admin has become rare….so it’s generally been a success.

There are however some unfair issues that need sorting regards when clubs enter or leave the EFL for the PL

but whilst there are 2 organisations (EFL and PL) protecting their own interests…don’t think any agreement will be made for the greater good.

Actually before 1988 clubs split the home gate receipts and football was fairer, hence teams like Ipswich, Notts Forest and Derby were champions. Now everything is skewed towards the so called Big Six.
