Is this squad capable of getting promoted?

Recommended Posts

We'll be adding 5 - 7 players to that list.

Currently the starting 11 would be good enough

                     Dawson

Palmer Hutch Iorfa Dunkley Galvin

                Bannan Luongo

Green             Paterson         Windass

It is poorly balanced and not particularly suited for any style of football, it is paper thin beyond starting 11, got no recognized striker or senior left back.

Both keepers can't be trusted to play 4, never mind 40 games at "promotion standard" and few of our key players are injury prone and not reliable.

Yeh but apart from that..

Way too hard to say , we don’t have a clue who will or won’t be here , we need about 6 signings if not more of a few leave. I would realistically say an outside play off push is our aim. As people above have said , Iorfa , Luongo. , Dunkley , Palmer , bannan , Windass , Paterson

should all be good enough to do well in this league (if they stay and keep fit ) can andre green step up? Can dele bishuru?
galvin ? Hagan ? Brennan ? Waldock?
Etc

think Moore plays 4-2-3-1 and not with 5 at the back ,

How many of these will still be here for the first game?

Rumour that Dean Windass has said that Josh won't play for us again.

Rumour that Palmer and others are looking at legal ways to leave the club, due to non-payment of pay.

If Iorfa is fit, will he be leaving?

What will be the quality of new recruits, when they know players haven't been paid? - About the same as recruiting with a 12 point deduction?

It's a no from me - would settle for mid-table.

Not sure where you got that from?? Only other week Windass snr was saying  Josh wants to play for Wednesday but doesn't know if that will happen cus Clubs in for him and money talks.

As things stand it’s a squad that should finish top half.

Goalkeeping dept. is a problem.

Palmer, Dunkley and Iorfa should make up 3 of a decent back four at this level. Plus both CB’s should be scoring 5-10 goals ideally.

There is enough experience and ability in midfield to be effective.

Goalscoring may be a problem. Wouldn’t expect any of our current forwards to bag between 15-20 goals which would be necessary to challenge where we want to.

Of course that’s how things stand. I think the squad may look different come August 7th but will be look very different come September 1st.

With that team I am going to put a bet on OG being our top scorer next season.

That midfielder and forward line is awful and no goals other than windass, but with no service.

Too many fitness doubt and players with IFS and buts against their names, we need fresh players asap if only to wake up the likes of Palmer, Pattinson, Bannan, Dunkley and Luongo.

Nope.

They'll be too many injuries.

Also, league 1 is better than people give it credit for and we've got a culture of failure.

Moore has a reyt job on his hands.

This x 1000.....................some of our fans are in denial.

I think my line up from a few weeks ago was more realistic, might have to put Dawson in for Paxo though.

Paxo is set to leave on a free.  So it's Dawson in goal.

Hoping we get Paxo to change his mind.
