Richard Cresswell

Recommended Posts

I was utterly wrong but I was delighted when he signed and thought he was going to be a star - I'd mistakenly assumed that tearing it up in L1 or L2 for York meant he'd be able to do the same for us.

The main thing I remember him for now is lasting all of 13 seconds before being subbed off in our first game in the Championship after we'd been relegated (Pieman got himself sent off in the first minute and Cresswell got subbed for a keeper).

I thought he was a blade..........

Hence why I never liked him.....that and didn't rate him, thought he was a major step down of what we had at the time.

He supported both wednesday and York, as that's who his parents supported. Not sure which way round.

Seemed to love playing against us

A lot of players must have had a point to prove when coming back to play us, we became a career restrictor for many a player.   Ian Taylor, Cresswell, Holt, etc. went on to have a good career after us.

His Mum was the Wednesdayite! He got that great header against Liverpool then can't remember him featuring much after that tbh... Years later I was at college in Leeds with a lad from York who knew him quite well who didn't speak very highly of him as a person if that means owt...which it doesnt really... anyway as you were!!! 😄

He can go into the Leon Clarke, Alan Quinn, Derek Geary and Leigh Bromby category for me.

Once they cross that divide, I erase from my head

You've not done a particularly good job of erasing them from your head....

His son Charlie has been on the bench a few times for Leeds this season

That makes me feel old.

I remember been 15 when we signed Creswell when Creswell was a young player. Christ. Where did that go?
