It's why, I think, you find a fair few clubs sign a few more in August - save on a month's wages.

Yeah, I just wanted to highlight the actual ins and outs of the rule. It's not something that's really been reported on properly in the media I don't think.

Said that to somebody earlier - I think they're there for genuine reasons, but the bit about topping up wages seems so backwards nowadays.

You'd think with rules like this in place clubs would be more sensible. A basic weekly salary with performance bonus such as playing, assists, goals, clean sheets etc. 

 

I mean the fact we often await August to sign players means we must be aware of them.
