What's The Club Actually Worth Right Now?

If you reboot it though. Could be great if you do it in a sustainable way, with the fans buying into it.

That's the challenge.

Exactly. We do need a radical rethink, and that’s not going to come with DC in charge, yet he’s pricing the club as if that rethink has already happened and has been a success.

You could say he’s valuing us on our potential, but given our exploits over the past god knows how many years and repeated failure to achieve that potential, it’s so far wide of the mark it’s crazy.

Fans would have to be patient though and that's not something we are that great at. That might be a football thing as a whole.

Tap into the whole Sheffield and swfc history, promote us an the city and make it a real community project for anyone to enjoy.

We all want chansiri to sell up and sod off, and we know he lives in cuckoo land with his valuations of the club, but as we stand, with everything what has happened, what is the club actually worth?

My personal view is the club is worthless. We don't own the stadium, we have no saleable assets on the pitch, we have front loaded our profits with stupid multi year season tickets, Chansiri has destroyed the corporate income, and priced out POTD supporters.

Our only real asset is the training ground, and our football league share.

Completely agree, and anyone with any serious intentions of buying the club will know that too.

If you were interested in buying Sheffield Wednesday but had no affiliation to the club in terms of support why would you offer anything now when all the signs are that the club is heading for more trouble and before long you will be able to pick it up for a relative pittance.

Guest Hornsby

£38 million paid less £22 million stadium and £6 million for relegation is £10 million value now.

Less loans of £78 million gives a negative value of £68 million.

Do you know anything about how the world works or have you picked it up by playing Sim city?

By your logic Chansiri would have to pay someone £68 million to get out of it without debt.

Do you understand commerce or accounting in any way that is relatable to reality?

Hard to value any club, it's a dream you are buying. Possibly someone might pay 50m. There are some serious wealthy people in the world who buy boats costing 200m. Problem is we need someone honest and sensible, that would exclude them from buying us.

It's worth exactly the value the chairman places on it

And if that value is anything like what he paid for it, never mind anything more than that, then it creates an issue in terms of anyone wanting to buy it.

No it's not.

Because nobody will pay it.

It will realise market value not what his his losses + what he paid MM.

He's got to sell to the market there's now no other way out.

The terms of a deal can always be agreed even if strange,  for example if someone seriously legit like Ineos or Red Bull were interested then they could buy the club for £5-10m now, and then agree to give Chansiri another payment on promotion to the PL. Or effectively buy 90% of the club now and let Chansiri keep 10% as a silent shareholder so that he still has some capitol should the club be successful in the future.

Like a lot of things in life you are paying for the 'name'

Unfortunately ours has been trashed in recent years.

As the recent The Athletic article said:

Several sources noted to The Athletic that Wednesday have a damaged reputation within the industry for the way they have handled player contracts
