L1 Squad Size Restrictions

Recommended Posts

I've seen that the PFA are in talks over taking legal action against this.

I've looked into it and I can't find any reasoning for why the restrictions on squad size has been imposed.

Does it actually help or hinder a team?

Does it apply to the league only or does it also apply to Cup games?

What are your thoughts on how it will affect us?

Chansiri will be doctoring the birth certificates of half the squad then….

Or just submitting the ages a year late.

Judging by the amount of players we currently have, I don't think having to restrict the first team to no more than 21 players over the age of 20 is going to be an issue for us!

Squad size is another reason we cant afford to have injury prone players.

Players like Dunkley are a bit of a liability.

Agree. But, in a sense L1 has much more sensible financial controls that the car crash which the championship operates under.

There is a limit on wages to revenue, however owners can donate money to count as revenue if the club wants to spend more. Yes, there is a limit on squad size, but if clubs run out of players they are encouraged to give young players a game.

EFL won't like it for the championship because it highlights the disparity and unfair nature of parachute payments though.
