pound for pound, Jordan Rhodes, the worst signing in our history?

Recommended Posts

It was a horrible vanity signing to appease that fans that were clamoring for us to go after him at the time.

Noone really could be certain that he was a shot bolt before we took him, same way we cannot be certain that is definitely the case now.

Sometimes, it just does not work for a multitude of reasons.

Should have worked and didn't.

purely on fee wages he has been a disaster but nowhere near the worst based on the pitch.  izzy brown prob cost us 25grand a week my god he is a fraud of a footballer , marriot season loan if we spent the loan fee elsewhere we almost certainly wont have got relegated he is the worst signing ever , abdi was another huge wages and stole possibly 35 grand a week ,the list is endless in fact its so criminal its hard to believe ,are these same fools in charge of signing players this summer if they are league 2 here we come.

Urby for me, nothing about it said anything but agent nonsense.

Out of nowhere signing, predictably did the square root of feck all on the pitch.

Actually looked pretty decent in his only appearance too. Very strange signing.

It's hard to quantify, but...when you look at the financials, it's hard to argue against it.

Jeffers had a reputation and came on a fat wage, but nothing close to JR.  Shouts for De Bilde, Jonk...Lunt (wasteman), Abdi obviously.  Urby was an oddity, but was hardly here 5 minutes.  Ranger...Bothroyd, bus?  Can't have cost us a lot.  O'Brien had a good reputation and failed...but can you say any of them came close to disappointing us all as much as Wednesday fan JR?

No.  😢

Yeah probably.

But I won’t knock the lad. He didn’t decide his transfer fee. He gave his all from what I saw, came up short on occasions but I think was underused quite often.

Good luck to him

This^.

He is no longer our player, along with 9 other's, so why the nastiness to these player's?.

Is it the scroats that go on social media to hound people that are posting this crap?.

He was going through the motions until he was “in the shop window” in my opinion.

Good luck to him but the plain fact is we paid him to score goals and he didn’t. He was definitely our worst value signing ever.

I'd say Abdi is the worst. At least Rhodes has been pretty much available all the time.

none of us ever found out what happened with abdi . must be classified files we might find out in 50 years . regular at watford top player then a complete car crash . rhodes has always wanted to play and with the right system he would have been a success . carlos should have done the right thing and told chansiri that he wouldnt fit into his style of play and save us 17million in wages and fee which in turn has cost us a serious decline , this is what happens in football if you employ total clowns as managers and have a recruitment team from the nuthouse , money is everywhere but its who spends it best wins , we are 92nd for pound for pound value .

For me Abdi beats him

i was indifferent about Rhodes from the beginning. It baffled me how Scotland were so poor up front but never had him  in the team, or the squad for that matter despite his remarkable scoring record at that point.

Abdi though.... I had seen Watford a few times and he was class a proper footballer he oozed class

I can honestly say in the past 20 years I’ve never been as excited by a signing

I still can’t get my head around his spell here

For me I’ve never been as disappointed in a player.Pound for pound our worst signing

I cant believe I’ve just wrote that! But it’s true

100%.

I have to feel that something went awry, be it injury, mental health or a combination. Especially as he then went straight into retirement.

Either that or he just thought feck it.

Like you, was absolutely gutted how it turned out because I thought that was the one.
