Kew Owl
All clubs have players that they let go who then go on to be successful elsewhere - we’re no different from other clubs in that respect

When he was released there was a fad based around biometrics relating to the size of a child’s parents. Vardy was released because of his size not his ability. legendaryswan
I saw him at Mansfield in an FA cup tie,I think it was Halifax he was with and he was absolutely crap, had a really poor game,he ballooned the best chance they had,he was quick as a flash, but couldnt hit a barn door and drifted out of the game after an hour and i think they took him off
Indoor Owl
Everybody seems to forget that Vardy was ready to quit football, and then did quit football. He wasn't released on a whim. He also spent quite a few years with less than determined commitment to the game, drinking port from Lucozade bottles and such in training. For every Vardy that comes along and has success in spite of himself, there's probably a million other former footballers that had a ton of potential that are working in a factory somewhere or tending bar. There are two types of people in the world: Those that would have looked at Vardy and his attitudes at 16 and thought he'd amount to absolutely nothing like so many others... ... And liars.

Back in the real world, the top youth prospects with leading pace, technique, and attitude don't end up out of football, then at Wickersley Youth. I don't believe a word of it. And won't until that version of the story is coming from somewhere other than Vardy's representation via canned media articles throwing praise on him like bunches of roses to a bullfighter. TheEnchanter
Most clubs aren't full of players that 'support' them. He would have moved on anyway because nowhere in our recent history would we have been able to keep hold of someone who could potentially score 100+ Prem goals and play for England.
