FFP has a lot to answer for

Recommended Posts

How did we invest in the club?

Absolutely nothing about the club has been improved during his tenure

He didn’t invest, he wazzed it up the wall. The sort of thing FFP is designed to punish and I for one agree with it.

The amount of times we criticised other clubs doing the same thing, but then we did it FFP was a nuisance.

The hypocrisy was unreal

I’m not a fan of FFP and think it’s a compounded unfairness when taking into account competing against parachute payments.

However, if Chansiri was able to spend more but restricted by parachute payments, why does he struggle to pay the players on time?

Ffp is a disaster. But the real problem is the way that money is distributed (and idiot owners).

Derby’s income was £30m. Chelsea’s income is £300m.
it has got to the stage where the championship is meaningless.

the promoted clubs just come straight back down.

the relegated clubs go straight back up.

the yo-yo clubs have parachute money and a massive advantage,

I would like to see promotion to the PL scrapped as it would make the PL meaningless as a competition. Have the championship top 6 qualify for a European competition and raise additional tv money for the football league that way.

But clubs do also need protecting against poor owners.

when mel Morris took over Derby we were in a healthy position.

But he wanted to play real life football manager.

We acquired lots of crap players and the wage bill doubled to 40m a year

he took over the responsibility for signing players and made his stepson part of the recruitment team.

the majority of signings were From the wasserman agency - the former employer of Sam rush.

we acquired a debt to MM of over 100m.

he paid 500k to Tom ince’s parents for scouting, (why was that never investigated?)

plus some ridiculous fees - Bradley Johnson 6m, Jacob butterfield 4.5m, nick Blackwell 3m,  all of whom left for nil.

We’ve had a different manager virtually every season. Cocu was picked after he read an article in a magazine?

he took the ground off us without telling the fans until the land transfer appeared in the accounts 18 months later.
he got into trouble with the EFl for than and for some peculiar accounting methods.

when we are in a financial mess he signs Rooney on 80k a week? Even getting 32red to pay half that’s 40k per week for a player who’s legs had gone and was useless.

Now we have the wages back down to 14m but cannot even afford to pay the players, and he’ll sell to any dodgy prospective owner that he can.

can chansiri match that?

FFP didn't get us a points deduction.

Chansiri trying to cheat his way around FFP got us a points deduction.

If Chansiri has all this money to invest that he is being prevented from doing so by the rules, why doesn't he spend any of it on the things that the club desperately needs that don't fall under FFP?

And why need to sell the stadium

FFP isnt fit for purpose, it doesn’t really do anything to protect clubs does it really?

That’s two clubs relegated from the Championship in successive seasons largely due to points deductions. What exactly is the point in that? What does it achieve other than plunge those clubs into further chaos.

Meanwhile, 3 PL clubs will come to the football league with the nice comfort of 100 million in their back pocket and parachute payments.

But don’t get me wrong Chansiri is to blame for our downfall.

The penalties should be applied against the owners and the executive directors not the club and the fans.

imagine is the chairman and finance director got clobbered with a massive fine for negligence instead.

Great post. Interesting read. I always get the impression Morris was lauded by Derby fans until recently.

There is whole deluded section of the fan base that think he’s great because he is a Derby fan and “had a go”. They don’t seem to realise what he has done, and that he had a go with the club’s money.

Please dont let Chansiri off the hook, by blaming FFP.

Its a simple basic requirement of the Chairman of a football club to know & understand the financial rules that he should operate within.

Dejphon Chansiri broke those rules then bodged the cover up by placing the stadium sale in the wrong set of accounts.

We were rightly punished with a 12 point deduction, later reduced on appeal. This is something that had NEVER happened in our history dating back to 1867.

All our issues stem from the fact that SWFC is owned by this incompetent narcissist. All the focus of the fans need to be on ridding ourselves of Chansiri by whatever means.

Until this happens the same dysfunctionality will hamper  any attempts for this club to be successful.

But were still losing huge sums of money. They needed a loan to keep the lights on.

Nowhere the amount Wednesday are haemorrhaging, with no assets. Now in the league below.

Nailed it here.

Chansiri has wrecklessly spent on vanity, all of which occurred between 2015-2017. None of this is real investment in the club itself.

Blaming FFP for our relegation is like someone who shopped at Debenhams blaming the local sandwich shop for Debenhams in town closing

Stop looking for excuses, reasons, things to blame

This one is purely, simply and ONLY our chairmans doing

So you believe the players performances have been of an acceptable standard for the past 3 years? As well as the various managers performances?
