3rd Stint In League 1 In 20 Years

Recommended Posts

Where has it all gone so wrong that in 20 years we have had 3 stints in League 1, compared with the likes of Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Burnley, Huddersfield, Derby, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Wigan, Bolton, Sunderland, Leeds, Fulham Brighton have all been to the Premier League, some on more than one occasion?

What have they got/had that we don't? On being supported we are up there with the best of them, and lower end Premier League teams, and yet we have had 2 playoff runs in the Championship in 20 years.

We have had 3+ chairmen in that time, countless managers, countless players, but we cannot get it right.

So what does it take to get us reaching our potential? Is there anything we can do until/if we ever get a chairman/board in who can give us a solid foundation?

Post-War we are a top division yo-yo team, but we are absolutely nowhere near that now. What do teams like Norwich, West Brom, Watford all do that we just cannot figure out?

Constantly mismanaged.

Constantly living in the past.

Nothing about it forward thinking. Long term. Structured or planned.

Exploited by ownership regimes means we have fallen behind much smaller clubs.

We will continue to yoyo between League 1 and the Champ unless serious changed are made. Starting with Chansiri selling.

Can see us being in it for a lot longer this time with a visit to L2 not out of the question.

We are being run into the ground and I expect us to remain in the lower leagues until DC is no longer part of the club.

Its been an abysmal season and we deserve to go down in light of the performances on the pitch but it’s ultimately the incompetency off it that’s has cost us.

Without the point deficit we’d have been ok.  Mission accomplished as far as the Football League will be concerned though.

Surviving in L1 will be hard and DC won’t be prepared for it - At this moment returning to the Champ is just a pipe dream.

Dark days ahead.

Even when we’ve come back up from League One in the past, we haven’t then progressed further.

All the ‘sleeping giant has awoken stuff’ never meant owt...

And now we’re miles and miles away from even being an acceptable business - let alone successful on a pitch.
