A game we could really do with Rotherham losing, and if possible shipping a few goals in the process.

 

A millers win tonight even by one goal would leave us needing them to lose on Saturday at Cardiff, heavily, and us to beat Derby ,convincingly, to negate what's already a 5 goal swing on the goal difference in their favour and could be more after tonight. 

 

 

Given Wednesdays complete lack of ability in finding the net on a regular basis apart from in the - what now seems like a tear in the space time continuum - win against Cardiff City, then we simply have to hope for a Rotherham pasting tonight and ourselves to go goal crazy on Saturday. 

 

Even when Rotherham lose (and they've lost 5 out of the last 6)  it's only by the odd goal.

 

1-0 against Barnsley

1-0 against Brentford

1-0 against Birmingham

2-1 against Middlesbrough

 

They don't really get spanked. And we need them to get spanked to have any hope at all really. 

 

In our favour Luton on a decent run of form at the moment. 

Though it must be noted Luton have actually only scored 3 more goals than Wednesday this season...so hardly prolific.

Despite the short turnaround, Jones will consider selecting the same Luton XI which earned a share of the spoils with Boro.

 

While George Moncur and Kazenga LuaLua are in contention for starting roles, the duo will likely have to make do with a spot on the substitutes' bench.

Wes Harding is expected to be recalled to the Rotherham starting lineup in place of Angus MacDonald, who was withdrawn before half time against Blackburn.

 

Ben Wiles and Daniel Barlaser are also in contention to feature if Warne opts for fresh legs in midfield.

Matthew Olosunde is an alternative to Chiedozie Ogbene at right wing-back having remained as an unused substitute at the weekend.

No one else hoping for a draw in order to keep Derby on their toes at the weekend? I'd fancy our chances of exploiting them having to come forwards over trying to break them down over 90 minutes.

 

(Obviously this assumes that Cardiff with beat Rotherham at the weekend)

People have been saying it won't happen and we are down from about 5 weeks ago now, we're still hanging there like a bad smell, 1 result in our favour tonight and imo we go favourites to stay up.

I'm usually wrong about these things but I reckon the millers will struggle to get 3 points from the last 2 games. The problem is when/if the results go our way, we all know it's the Wednesday way to blow it at the last.

Just think if someone had said 'we need Derby to lose their next 6 games and Rotherham to pick up only 1 point in their next 6'

Agree, a draw for Rotherham tonight is best. We have to beat Derby whatever happens, and a draw will put pressure on Derby. If Rotherham lose, Derby only need a draw to be safe.
