Fooooooook ME this is more depressing than relegation watching some of our fans falling over themselves to find any reason to not criticise the chairman

How utterly utterly depressing

We should just go the whole hog and rename the club Chansiri FC to really make these fans happy

Objectivity mate,....that isnt happening in this thread...

Objectivity?

Or just trying to find anything and everything else to blame instead of the Chairman for the players not getting paid ahead of the biggest game in absolute years?

This just goes to show how easy it can be to distract and mislead fans like a certain former chairman used to specialise in. Just bring up a couple of carefully calculated phrases about 'playing for the shirt' or 'disrespecting the fans' and they'll be whipping their shirts off, applying the blue body paint and beating their chests like gorillas. Wind them up and let them go.

I think we can all agree that the players are generally poor and lacking in character. But surely in those circumstances, if anything you should be trying harder to keep them happy and feeling supported in these circumstances? For more than a year now they've been messed about with their salaries, and most of them have it seems effectively been told they're not wanted next season by way of not offering them a new contract. Hardly conducive to maximum performance is it?

And a distinction needs to be made between a deliberate lack of effort and that extra couple of percent you get when someone is being prepared to the maximum, physically and mentally. The whole atmosphere of the club reeks of decline and that is down to the man at the top. It is all but inevitable this will seep downward.

To put it into perspective, as things stand we are left with ( 4-2-3-1 )
Wildsmith,

Iorfa, Dunkley, Borner, Palmer

Luongo*, FSB

Windass, Bannan, Green*

Patterson

Adedoyin

Dawson

Obviously we’ll be (un)lucky to get 10 games out of Luongo & Green. I don’t know much about the youngsters but Galvin looked decent. So question is, can we add enough to what we have to stabilise in League 1?

Which chairman signed them all?

Which chairman is paying them an absolute fortune when they're such poor exponents of their craft?

Oh I agree its bad bad recruitment

Would you accept a job offer for a company:
Not doing that well in their market (although were good once)
Has a CEO which doesn't pay his staff on time - more than once
Has a CEO that changes the companies branding to be all about him
Has a CEO that has got in trouble with the main regulator over dodgy finances, and been punished publically because of it
Hires average bosses for you, then fires them (so you would have had 3/4 bosses in your first year)
The office is huge, but very run down.

I would only accept the above if I didn't have a job, or couldn't get another for similar(ish) salary. Or if they offered me far more than other companies, and I would happily go there purely for the money, while thinking long term where I want to go next.

Come august they'll  be hundreds of players desperate for a contract who'll  be happy to take a chance on us ......

Exactly this. It’s going to be brutal this summer. Every club on the planet are going to be cutting their squads and cutting their wages. Assuming we are in L1 then we will absolutely be shopping from the ‘bargain bin’ but I’m thinking there will be ‘desperate sellers’ a plenty and many homeless and desperate players with Range Rover finance to cover...

With the club apparently consistently failing to pay wages on time, the rapid hiring and firing of managers, dubious financial management of the club and a terrible season almost behind us.

An important point regarding our recruitment for next season, how many of our potential targets may have second thoughts about joining us if they have a couple of options, leaving us with a weaker set of players than we would otherwise have had.

And in this case the “if they don’t want to sign for us, we don’t want them” argument isn’t really valid, they may love the idea of signing for an historically bigger club, but would you risk it with the state we are currently in?

I think we might be okay up to the 7k a week limit. TBH I really wouldn't want to be paying many that in L1, many Championship clubs will pay less. One of the benefits of being relegated, if it happens.

Or are the players good enough but just sick to the back teeth of getting messed around?

Dont think you've asked yourself the obvious question mate. Why will they be desperate for a contract. Dont you think its because they wont be very good which is why they've been released in the first place.

Oh I have  .....when you've no money you go into the bargain basement like we did in the mid 70s .for every jeff johnson you pick up you get a fred mcivor... this is where whoever does our recruitment  needs to earn his corn ....
