Permutations

Recommended Posts

No doubt this is the maddest end to a season I can remember seeing. Two from three to go down. The bottom club still not technically relegated and only bottom on goal difference. The bottom four could easily all finish on 43 points with goal difference being the only thing between them. And then added to the mix is the fact two of the bottom four play each other. If Luton beat Rotherham it’s will be a crazy day on Saturday!

Well if we finish on 43, it will mean we actually got 49 points, which is about right to normally stay up

Yeah 49 is usuaully there or thereabouts but this is some way short. 43/44 points potentially sufficient to finish 4th from bottom.

No point getting worked up over permutations, derby have the points advantage and Rotherham a better goal difference.

If it were a horse race, we'd be the 3 legged donkey at the back praying the other two fall at the last fence, so we can scrape over the line.

Either way, in the championship or L1, while we have Chansiri in charge, we are fizzed.

In a way it might be better Rotherham getting a draw against Luton rather than losing. That way Derby know they will have to play for a win against us therefore not sitting back for the draw.

That’s how the bookies are seeing it.

5/1 on us to stay up.

For anyone still confused about it all.

Current Table:

21st - Derby P 45 GD -22 Pts 43     Remaining game at Home against us on Saturday.

22nd - Rotherham P 44 GD -16 Pts 40     Remaining games against Luton (12th GD -9 Pts 61) tomorrow night and Cardiff (8th GD 17 Pts 67) on Saturday, both Away. Also both teams have nothing to play for really.

23rd - Wednesday P 45 GD -21 Pts 40     Remaining Game Away against Derby on Saturday.

24th - Wycombe P 45 GD -33 Pts 40     Remaining Game Away against Middlesbrough (10th GD 5 Pts 64) on Saturday. Wycombe are basically already relegated with the Goal Difference.

So for us, if Rotherham win either game we are basically down, the GD will probably stay the same. If Rotherham don't win tomorrow we need to win against Derby and hope Rotherham don't win against Cardiff, again Rotherham's GD will probably be better if Rotherham win.

I predict Rotherham winning tomorrow and drawing Saturday, us losing against Derby and Wycombe drawing as well. So the table will look like this:

21st - Derby Pts 46

22nd - Rotherham Pts 44

23rd - Wycombe Pts 41

24th - Wednesday Pts 40

I just don't see us winning at Derby anyway, we will bottle it like always and would deserve to down regardless of the -6 points. Did I miss any situation above also anyone feeling more positive about us staying up?

It could work the other way. If they only needed a draw they might be very cagey and sit back, hand us the initiative.

To play for a draw is a dangerous game, well I know it would be if it was Wednesday.

43 points could be enough to stay up. What a poor league this was this year, and we still managed to F it up.

Yep when we beat Wycombe in February to move out of the bottom 3, it was looking doable.

We only needed average form in the last 18 games to comfortably stay up. W6 D6 L6 for 52 points.

Instead we lost the next 7 games and have picked up only 12 points out the last 51 possible.

Not quite. We have the chance to nobble one of the other 2 and not wait for them to fall

Can’t see that it’s on tomorrow,  as it was a postponed game I don’t think it’s allowed to be on sky tv.  So will have to follow the updates.

Lets hope Luton continue their recent form and effort which has won them some decent points

No it’s on sky sports football

Id rather we took derby down if we go but each to their own

Not sure why? Rotherham fans will be insufferable they've already brought out a beer to commemorate doing the double over us. Derby will likely be able to attract the top players for League one if they were to drop.
