It's not just the owners. It's the players, the agents, managers, coaches and anyone associated with professional football has become greedy and the game has suffered badly. Better games can be watched at amateur level now. Sky who where the most vocal of the esl are the worst offenders and have helped make the game what it is at the moment

You are spot on. When we were a founder member of the Premier League, it was promised that money would be invested in lower league and local football. It was a lie. Ordinary working people idolised rich players in the Hello generation even though they are paid as much in a week as real working people earned in several years. Normal people have woken up to the big Premier and Football league scam (and the players Union)  over many years too late. The current footballers at taking the *** out of all of us.

Absolutely. Sky are hypocritical. They crapped themselves with the esl. They would not stop slating it. Yet they was only scared of losing their money spinning monopoly on the game they currently have. They did a similar thing to the esl tried to do when the prem started. The money and greed they have brought to football has attracted people like the glaziers.

It’s not exactly the same though. The ESL is trying to render broadcast deals for the non elite clubs as worthless which would have a massive impact just so they can concentrate all of the money amongst a dozen or so clubs.

Prior to 1992, there wasn’t much football on TV. The launch of the premiership was basically a rebranding of the top division which opened it up to TV and brought loads of money in. They didn’t actually take money away from the lower leagues.. it’s just that they massively increased the revenue in the top flight while the rest of football stood still. Obviously that’s had ramifications like driving up wages at second tier level but in terms of the revenue side it’s had a net positive impact on the football league. Where it falls down is the lack of distribution, unfair parachute payments and not enough regulation

The Premier League is acceptable and it’s possible to run it alongside the football pyramid. The ESL is not and crosses a line

Germany apparently has a rule that majority ownership must be fan based. Would this work here

That was bypassed by Red Bull anyway. As new owners of Leipzig, they made it so that only employees of Red Bull could own shares, leaving them in full control.

It's also not something you can retrospectively apply without some serious legal battles from owners being forced to sell their controlling stakes.

They postponed it because the 'fans' made it unsafe for the players, staff and TV crews. They were violent and out to cause trouble. I know few of the crew who were covering the game and this is the result:

The tripod that moron smashed up was worth £7,000+.

Film equipment is way more expensive than people think.

Yeh I thought you were gonna say something like 20k for the lens, I remember you on about it before how expensive it all is

Good explainer here on why it's so expensive:

were they 'real' fans or just coked up idiots who have just been locked up for a bit too long......?

Unfortunately where ever there's a protest of any type you'll get a small and usually not related to the cause knobs, who'll want to cause trouble and damage.

Due to serious injuries to police officers etc. I wouldn't be surprised if MUFC are hit with sanctions and let's face it that's the last thing we need.

Yes we need to do something, what, I don't know but certainly don't need to attract attention for the wrong reason, because you just know we'll get punished.
