But the bigger picture is the loss of revenue for other clubs because no one wants to pay for sky sports to watch Burnley v Fulham and with the football pyramid it also means clubs further down the league doesn't get much help ...if you think they don't get any help now wait till this happens.

I don't mind the PL as it is you have the big six who are always going to be in the mix with the outside chance of someone like Leicester or even West Ham as we have seen this year.

Its a disaster for football.

Football in this country would have to have a reset and stop paying huge wages - that could be manageable without the big TV money and would be good for the game. Third division footballers in this country currently average around £5K per week with 4th division players averaging over £2K per week - perhaps they could do with looking at those levels in line with what they bring in.

The lower leagues would also have to budget more accordingly. They should really be managed better than having to rely on hand outs from these big 6 anyway. The trickle down structure currently in place could stay similar, just with smaller amounts for all.

It is the big money makers like Sky and the Premier League that would have to have a significant change of approach really though - they are designed to maximise profit based on big income thanks to the big PL clubs, are they prepared to downsize?

Wouldn't be surprised to see all the players put into a ESL pool and clubs get to pick every summer.

Bit like the draft.

Players who get picked earlier get more money for that season.

Still too early for central and West coast.

Nobody wants to watch a footy match at 1730 anyways.

Well, even the ESL doesn't have enough power to force time zone changes.

Do it on a rota basis?

The PL is watched all over the world, the time difference doesn't seem to deter people.

PSG - they will join

Marseille -  have an current US owner, soon to be sold to Emirates money men

Wouldn’t be surprised if a Russian team suddenly became big in all if this

Agree with PSG.

But Russian teams don’t have the overseas fan base. Their value to the ESL is fizz all.

Once the Germans see this is really happening, Bayern will definitely join. Possibly Dortmund too.

I move a lot of concrete on the QVC.

But the passion of the fans when goals are scored is what makes football different to every other sport.

Without that passion  it's soulless and sterile.

I guess we will see.

Like I say, it is for you and me and traditional fans - to us it does feel soulless. Worldwide fans watch the games online or on TV don't necessarily have that same connection. As long as they can fill the grounds and pipe and atmosphere through the TV screens that creates some semblance of atmosphere they will be happy.

VAR is already killing spontaneous reaction as it is.

According to an un named person on the board of one of the big six their owner have done their homework and if it comes that they are excluded or expelled from the PL they don't give a monkey because 'this is the future' and ' the good of football is a secondary concern '

This is a direct quote from a board member.

Their current plans for the ESL are for 2 divisions of 10 and the top 3 in each going through to the knockout stage along with 2 more via play offs.

Even if a team goes all the way to the final they will play 20 games. Teams who fail to finish in the top 5, will only play 16 games.

Without League football as well I can't see that being viable. They would need a rethink if the clubs are kicked out of their domestic leagues.

It might be difficult financially in the short term but eventually things will settle down. We all thought the pandemic might see clubs go to the wall and a restructure come about but this hasn’t happened yet? Thing is there are probably too many clubs in the league structure and what you may see is a streamlining of clubs that become more self sufficient, sustainable and more competitive. The current structure is flawed otherwise you wouldn’t have the big 6 pushing for this and the EFL Chairman coming across as a tin pot Napoleon handing out sanctions here, there and everywhere? If this move signals significant change then I’m all for it because football in it’s current guise/state is done for?

It will just be a constant stream of soulless and cringeworthy exhibition matches.  Like the harlem globetrotter.  After the 1st quarter we have  ball skils from foden..After 18 months the players will realise how crap it is.  Not suee how football has gone on this long without being regulated.

Strip the clubs of all their major trophies whilst they’re at it and give us the 1993 FA cup and league cup too.

If they invite dirtyleeds then we can have the 1991-92 League Championship title as well!

Why the hell does it need streamlining?  This is about greed and nothing else.

Sounds good in theory but never going to happen.

Football clubs have outstanding debts with the reliance of the money being trickled down ...all this would do is make them go bust.

Also do you think the players would take a pay cut just to stay here ?

Most would probably move to China making their leagues more competitive...would I mind ? No .

I've been banging this drum for years that money has killed this game and if there was to be a 'Great reset' - Kudos!
