And that's why it's collapsed.

Amazing naivety of some saying it's the fans that have made them change their minds. Don't make me laugh. Absolute garbage. Must be because these owners really, really care what the fans think?!  🙄

'A victory for the fans!' Wakey wakey.

This has got to have been planned for well over a year the document was over 170 pages long, I'm sure they had all top lawyers that covered every angle....like Gary Neville said, Joel Glazer doesn't put his name to anything unless he's confident ....they were confident - the reaction by not only the fans but the players , managers, government has played a massive part in this, that's why it's crumbled before it started.

I'd settle for 3 points per team. Which means an 18 point deduction for all of the ********, and an embargo for the next 2 windows.

Please please please can uefa, but more specifically, the FA use this to reset.

The issue is player wages and commercialisation in cahoots with sky.

Move to the German ownership module. Make tickets affordable again. Stop the over saturation on sky and make the European competitions interesting by making is a straight knock out (can be seeded if you want to favour the big boys)

Gi’ Super League back!!

The irony being that the quote is a play on an original different version

Where fans of our club were very much against the fans having a block of shares in the club as a safeguard and wanted those shares relinquished

Now fans having shares in their clubs is an absolute must apparently...

These people only make decisions on a financial basis, they've probably had legal advice that if the EPL, FA or UEFA decide to expell them from all competitions then there's nothing they can do about it.

I don't agree, they would have taken plenty of legal advice before this was announced. I'd be amazed if they've only bothered to find out they can't stop FIFA/UEFA expelling them afterwards.

I think Chelsea and or Man City walking away is the cause. Chelsea weren't even invited until late last week and the Saudi's at Man City massively care about what people think about them. Their involvement in Manchester City in part is about improving that country's image in this part of the world. They don't need the money.

It's easy to be all cynical about the reaction on social media with people patting each other on the back etc, but I think the incredibly negative reaction is the reason this isn't going forward.

My biggest gripe is this has been planned behind people's backs all through the pandemic and these same people have held these secret talks away from the rest of the PL.

I can see no road back for them now.

Yep, the sneakiness of it that got people’s  back up big time.

I have been on 4 or 5 of the "big six" forums the last few days and you know what surprises me? They all hated the Super League more than all of us put together. They want to win but don't want European football just gifted to them. All of them seemed fed up with modern football and all of them are seriously considering quitting their club for non league football etc.

You think we don't like Chansiri, you ought to hear Tottenham, Arsenal and Man Utd fans talk about their owners. You will probably see pitch forks coming out soon.

And all of them are fed up with the price of season tickets. I really think football has achieved a saturation point where the fans can or cannot justify the price of season tickets. If the price goes up much more, I believe you will see more and more begin to turn their backs on the clubs.

The idea that this lot can just back out and shove out a press release, then be welcomed back with open arms, sickens me.

Football CANNOT let this slide without severe punishment.

Point deductions, financial penalty, transfer bans.. it all has to be on the table. I’d be shocked if any of them get thrown out of the league but the maximum short of that needs to remain on the table.

-30 for all 6 and a 3 year transfer ban. See how you get on with the top 4 then.

Well, considering to a man, the players, managers and supporters were all against it. Do you propose that they are punished for the club owner's greed?

Have another think.

I don't agree about the severe punishments but a club can absolutely be rightly punished because of their owner.

That is exactly what has happened to our club this season and rightly so.

Just to add further, Arsenal fans were calling for the big six, including themselves to be punished. Punishment varying from points deductions to European bans. One even wanted them to be relegated. Modern football is dying, there isn't much life left in it.

sorry if this has already been suggested but why not form a superleague organically with classic temporarily embarrassed teams like us and go from there?

hope DC's been on the phone to the organisers and we'll see how we get on against barca

Because the structure was wrong

It wasn't a breakaway as they wanted to maintain staying in the UEFA structure

The nuclear option is completely leaving to join a new structure entirely

Obviously it would entail them leaving their domestic league too.

It's far from over

Might die down for a season or 2 but the financiers will be working on another plan

No way are uefa and the pl going to be anything but jolted

they'll already be formulating sweeteners to keep their biggest assets

There is zero threat of them breaking away from the Premier League on the back of how unpalatable this proposal was to fans and government, absolutely none.

I just don’t see it. They showed their hand, everyone thought it was a full house but it turned out to be a pair of 2’s.

You’ll see regulation top the agenda for government, football in the UK has shown to be too important to people, our national identity and is one of the few things we export globally that we can be proud of, despite its current issues.

Time will tell.

Yes.

The problem we have is the billionaires coming along and knowing nothing about the game ....I mean earlier I heard one of these big six owners when he attended a game asked what colours his team were playing in ....what does that say ffs.

Agreed, but deducting say Man U 30 points and putting them on a transfer embargo?

All the players leave because they cannot even contemplate competing at a high level with a 30 point deduction and Man U can't replace them because they have a transfer embargo, that's a daft suggestion at best.

Can we all take a moment to think about poor old @mcmigo

Poor bloke will be devastated.

And think of the kids in Asia that can’t watch Juventus vs Real Madrid every fortnight and buy a shirt for every team in the league

Yeah I don't agree with harsh punishments for any of them.

They probably deserve it but in the end they've come to the right decision. Whatever the reasons.

Give them the points deduction this season.

Loss of Premier League prize money, loss of Champions League money and status for one season as they don't qualify, loss due to having to pay compensation for dropping out. Absolute loss of reputation within 48 hours.

Avoids any punishment resulting in a mass mass exodus of their squad, and hits their pocket hard. That'd do me. Oh, and Arsenal would get relegated, but tough.
