Lord Snooty
Great day. Some super times. Odd though isn't it. There's one thing that sticks in my mind above all others from that match. That foul on Trevor Francis. Not even a yellow card. Compared to some of the farcical cards our lads have seen this season... Different world. Blimey. Old Trevor. Superb. So quick. So light. Feet that wouldn't leave footprints in snow. I loved Waddle. But Trevor Francis is the best crosser of a ball I've seen.
Bluewings
Can you imagine how good Francis was in his prime, those times he played for us you could tell he used to be a baller. Classy player. I was there too, happy days. Same again today please.
matthefish2002
I remember being part of the pitch invasion after this game. I wasn't part of the pitch invasion a few months before v Chelsea and was jealous of those mates who were so was determined not to miss out this time. Lord Snooty
It all went down hill when we replaced the stanchion goals and replaced them with the God awful box nets. There's the real silent villain in our downfall.
Animis
What an amazing few months that was - we just rode the wave, thinking this was the norm and would always be here. A very talented team who feared no one and could beat anyone in the country. So pleased I was there, but tempered with disappointment that it only lasted another few years

Up close the crossbar and posts were oval in cross section not round...if the ball hit the underside of the bar or inside of a post it went in...none of this fannying around with VAR. When I was about 13/14 I did a tour of the ground with Albert Clayton on a Sunday morning (he had contacts) and we both stood on the penalty spot at the Kop end and said “How the f*** does anybody miss a penalty?” (That’s when I was told about and saw the shape of the bar and posts)

The ref that night was from Oldham, our promotion rivals so after a few early dodgy decisions the chant went up "you cheating Oldham ba*****d"
