Original ground was where the bend in road is and the big concrete dome stands now Works department is about 300 yards up the hill on left has a decent little bar in it ( if open )
Wing Back 200
There's a plaque on the wall near the bus stop near the entrance iirc.

matthefish2002 13,656
Think Olive Grove was the clubs first permanent home but think first ground was where Highfield Library is on London Road.

Think you're right. Until 1877 we played at Myrtle Road, which I think is the Ball Inn ground. Then the home ground was at Sheaf House up to 1880 when we played at Bramall Lane, although still played some games at Sheaf House as it was apparently cheaper to rent than BL. Olive Grove was our ground from 1887-99 An OS map from 1894 below shows 3 of the grounds. Olive Grove ground although not marked is the rectangle under 'MIDLAND RAILWAY'. From the same map showing the recreation ground on Myrtle Road. A team photo at Olive Grove from the mid 1890's, with Sheffield Wednesday F.C. painted on the stand roof. That stand was removed and taken to Hillsborough. 12

Lincs Owl 2,711
Officially we were The Wednesday FC until 1928, but often referred to as Sheffield Wednesday. And dont forget Hillsboro wasn't in Sheffield in 1899 or whenever we moved.
fredmciverslovechild 1,811
When we knew we were leaving Olive Grove back in 1899 we looked at a number of sites....Ecclesall Road, Hillfoot, Carbrook, elsewhere in Owlerton and we were also offered temporary accommodation at Tinsley. Does anyone know where any of these sites are precisely?

The company name was officially changed in 1929 with companies house or it's equivalent in those days.
