CONFUSED. WTAF?. EH??

Recommended Posts

- We smash Cardiff 5-0

- It's obvious the quality is there

- Monk talks of a 'business plan'

- No player contract stability

- But then they go and do that

So what is it?

DC obviously hasn't a clue.

But also, the players are capable when arsed

Would the players have given so many dud performances with fans in the ground?

Just exactly what is DC's so-called business plan?

I don't get it

Any ideas?

Nope, can't help you. I've never been as frustrated after smashing a team! We are more or less down and then pull out a performance like that to show what we are capable of... Yet its way too late.... So frustrating.

I'm a bit merry so I've probably not articulated myself very well.

But it was Monk's comments that really threw me.

When he talked (negatively) of this 'business plan' I was like.. Eh?

Our plan is to run contracts down and not invest in home grown prospects???

But if that dents morale, why did we do that today?

That was no fluke performance today.

Scoreline yes.

Peformance no.

I think the Pulis appointment proper annoyed the players.

They knew what kind of football they were going to be told to play and what kind of training sessions would be put on for them every day..

No surprise that they are playing when actually being allowed to play.

It’s a great result and an excellent performance

it sometimes happens. Not to such devastating effect as today but it can happen

It may be a one off but I think we may be starting to see the influence and effect of Darren Moore and his staff. I really hope so

On another thread I posted Bannan for all his technical ability struggles to impose himself on games. Today he did just that and to me that looked like the result of the coaches decision to move him forward a little and “ do damage”

It worked a treat

The next game will be the absolute key

If we put in a good performance and get another win it could be a very interesting last few games

lets see

Excellent point and Bannan alluded to that in his interview how much they were enjoying playing under Moore.

I said it at the time he was sacked that the players got him the boot. Still convinced by it. Bannan probably lead the charge.

I don't think Monk's being entirely straight about this.

For one thing, he's not going to say anything that would implicate too negatively his own performance as our manager. These TV appearances, after all, are as much about advertising himself for another job in management as they are about pocketing some easy cash for a few hours work.

Anyway, I'm not sure his point of how we ended up with so many players in their final year being down to some kind of plan really makes much sense given how so many of them were on contracts we simply could no longer afford anyway. Yes, this is still indicative of DC's abysmal planning, but it was probably the only viable solution for us given the situation rather than an actual strategy.

He's also neglecting to mention his own contribution to help foster player unrest when two very long serving players in Westwood and Hutchinson were simply excluded from the squad.
