Steve Chu with a few home truths.

As we know it is not just managers involved in the process though is it. Prior to this season Chansiri had probably given managers too long. He backed Monk when he could easily have sacked him last season. Little of our summer recruitment suggested a joined up plan.

Think our summer recruitment was joined up,  spend nothing and keep the club treading water till a buyer comes along.  DC isn't going to spend any more unless he finds a wad down the side of the sofa.

It’s not as black and white as signing players who are younger.

It’s about doing our due diligence and signing players who fit the ethos of the club. Players who want to fight for the shirt. Players who fit the system. Players who want to succeed and play at the next level. Players with ability.

Our recruitment has been properly awful. I don’t think people quite realise how shocking it’s been since 2016. Players signed with no plan or design, money on crocks and players who’s best days have been and gone.

The wages of Paterson, who got a hefty promotion transfer extension at Cardiff, as well as Kachunga, Brown and Marriott won't have been cheap, they could have easily been better spent elsewhere.

Bet they were all well to the lower end of the spectrum DC has paid out for in his time here.

I agree, but other clubs are smart enough to have them tied down to contracts that enable the club to get a reasonable fee, we don't.

You have to question the likes of Bullen and Thompson here  and why they haven't pushed for Shaw and Urgohide to be given contracts earlier. Could they not see their potential?

Not defending Bullen and Thompson but trying to tell something to Chansiri must be like banging your head against a brick wall.

Lower than the first two seasons yes, but we have had a few transfer windows of doing next to nothing recently.

Paterson was rumoured to be on something in the region of £23K at Cardiff. How much do you think he dropped down for the love of playing for our well run club? Brown is on more than £20K at Chelsea, do you think they let us have him for nowt?

Brown will be on decent money no idea how much we will be contributing to that, he was the one player we signed who was greeted with any "delight" on OT.  Paterson I would guess knows that he was lucky to get another Championship club and probably snapped our hands off and his wages will no doubt be reflected by that.

He could have stayed on good money at Cardiff, the manager was on dodgy ground and he would get a fresh chance soon enough, he was fairly well regarded by their fans. No reason for him to take a significant pay cut to join a team on minus 12 points.

Thought he was more or less at the end of his contract at Cardiff and wasn't getting many games.

I think Steve Chu is dancing around the point.

The 'massive' thing has always been a bit tongue-in-cheek.  Just a bit of fun.  Supporters know fine well where the club stands in the grand scheme of things.

If Chansiri chooses to take it at face value, yes, that's a problem.

Chansiri has also said the same in so many words

We have had some shocking leadership, DC does massively stand out however having wasted £350m (was his own claim) and promised so much

£350m? short cut that failed.

Let's look to the long term future for a change, like other club's, and build some thing that will last longer than the  usual 5 year cycle.

Let's try to emulate Southampton or Norwich.

Under contract until 2022. Played 42 times last season.

Bow to your superior knowledge, makes you wonder why he moved here

In all probability, the bumper wage increase he got when Cardiff got promoted probably included a relegation clause but he was still thought to be on around £17K per week. I would imagine we are paying him well, not in the bracket that the likes of our top earners were getting on contract from 2017 but a good salary for lower end Championship football. He will be expensive by League One standards.

I generally agree with this but what he doesn’t mention is our potential. Our potential for growth is phenomenal compared with most other teams in the EFL and the Prem. I wonder how  many chairmen, including the current, have gambled short-term on tapping that potential and if that is the reason we never seem to have a long-term strategy.

In what way is the potential so great at Wednesday compared to most in the PL and EFL?

Genuine question, what sets Wednesday apart from so many other clubs?

Good idea!

Let's sign Man City's team of players !

If not, which team ?

Do you not think the point he is making is fair?

When Man City sign a player they do so with a plan taking into account his strengths and how his ability will be used to make the team better within the approach that they play with.

Which players do you think we have signed and taken anything like that into account recently?
