HIGHERSTATE
I feel like he was told to hang back, dictate play and only make the odd run forward. How many times have we seen this?
Popular Post Animis
It symbolises our overall approach and has done for a while. Him, Pelupessy, the full backs, Harris and Hutch spend more time passing backwards than moving forward. Confidence in themselves and others, and the fear of losing the ball is probably all at play. 11
Popular Post Ronnie Starling
Isn't he on around £25k a week? Do we get value for money? No we don't. It seems that all our managers or coaches hide behind playing Bannan. They haven't come up with an alternative despite numerous windows to do so. Whilever we have him in midfield we will struggle to compete. 12 3 1
WhiteOwl91
Probably in part due to the movement around and in front of him completely mirroring my bowels, and I haven’t had a dump in 4 days. 6
BIG D
Just a reminder to everyone. When you’re rebuilding a team you always get shut of the best players first.
Popular Post Lord Snooty
He'd look terrific in a good side. He's a midget. A technically very good midget. In a team that flows, moves the balls, where players exchanges passes and positions , he's one of the better "Footballers" in the division. We do none of those things. And, with us, neither does he. 28

paulrs
Always been a huge fan of Bannans. But his recent performances have been woeful. Perhaps it’s the malaise around the club affecting him or the desperate lack of ability around him, or maybe the dawning realisation we’re a League One side in all but name.
Basement Jack
Don’t get me wrong Bannan has been a good free signing and he is far from our biggest problem However..... as technically gifted as he is on the periphery I am still waiting for him to take a game by the scruff of the neck and impose his influence on it Sadly he can’t do it like I say he is a technically gifted player but.... for those of a certain age ....he is no Gary Shelton who was of similar stature 5

Barry Bannan - very good in a very good side 5 years ago Barry Bannan - crap in an absolute crap side right now Is it any wonder? He’s playing with idiots.
Guest Therealrealist
But don’t forget he did US a favour by signing another very lucrative contract
Popular Post Kraschenbern
He doesn't have a wide enough range to his skillset to be effective at this level. He's a "tidy" footballer, but that's it. He either needs to be further forward or on the bench. Playing him deep is a total waste of time. Players that play that role also have to be capable of winning the ball back and breaking up play. With Bannan there it forces us to play with another deep player, like Joey, or Hutch. And that leaves a mile between midfield and attack. It is the single biggest flaw for us tactically and has been for three seasons. I've been saying this for so long, but we will not improve or effectively change our style of play until he has gone. I don't think he is a bad footballer, and he's been a loyal servant. But he is a big part of the problem. He also shouldn't be anywhere near the captains armband. His body language towards his team mates at times is shocking. I know he's frustrated, but he is simply not captain material. 10 6
smhouston
When you have no movement around you what do you expect? We so miss Lee around him having that football brain It's no coincidence when we lost the better footballing players (i.e. Hooper / Lee) he's gone downhill
camffiti
It was a busy night of fire fighting at the back, for Bannan tonight Trying keep possession for the team, amidst our CB passing
SiJ
He's not good enough to elevate this bunch of losers. He isn't some dynamic, box to box midfielder who can grab this team by the scruff of its neck and drag them to victory. He's a technical, deep lying playmaker and the only thing he can do with this lot is ping the occasional long ball and hope one of the donkeys runs onto it. He hasn't got Lee, Lopez, Nando, Hooper etc., to link up with now. Edited March 17, 2021 by SiJ
