OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT REGARDING LIAM SHAW

It’s Liam Shaw folks, not Kante. He’s not pulled up that many trees. We’ve played some poor sides this year and he was non-existent. The decision is purely money based. A 19 year old should be thinking opportunities and wanting to play regular, not money. He could be a regular in a league one side next year and gain valuable experience and help him develop. Not interested, let the lad move on, don’t play him

And play Quagmire instead?

You do realise that as fans of the club we're seeing posts like this every time a player leaves the club

One after the other after the other after the other

What makes my blood boil is that Liam Shaw was at the club since he was 8 years old, and guy running the club and making all the decisions publicly said along the lines of 'we didn't know how good he was until it was too late' ?!

If we can't spot talent that spent over 10 years at the club, how can we spot one that is turning out for other clubs ? This is a level of incompetency unheard  of at any club trying to survive in this hard times for football.

If someone at the club told Chansiri that Shaw was great and needed a new contract, he wouldn't believe them anyway.  He knows best about literally every subject.

I imagine he thinks he knows better than the football authorities about player contract issues too.

The man is an absolute buffoon.

He knows nothing and doesn't care.

And than says that fans should respect and trust him because he spent 200 m of his own money on the club. If you ask me, club would have been better of if he burned it instead.

Terrifying realization is that he never learns and only seems to get more stubborn all the time, digging hole beneath OUR club ever deeper.

Tapping up

Currently, under FIFA and FA transfer rules, if a club wants to procure the services of a player registered with another club, they must speak directly with that club and not to the player or his representatives. The player and his representatives will only be brought in for discussions with the potential purchasing club once the two clubs have agreed a fee.

Yeah think you're right

Wouldn't have happened if he'd been on a lengthy contract and he wouldn't have left if he wanted to stay

Fifa regulations article IV. 18. 3

A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months.

Quite right we are making a stand against this. It’s criminal that a Scottish team can poach a player we have put 11 years of effort in to for next to nothing.

We should receive fair recompense, as if he signed for a PL team and the rules should be changed to reflect the uniqueness of the UK.

Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that midfielder Liam Shaw has signed a pre-contract agreement with Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

We are currently investigating this matter and will consider if there are any further steps available to protect the club’s interest.

It was not our intention to place this development into the public domain out of respect to all parties concerned.

However, we were contacted by Celtic informing the club of their intention to formally confirm this development, which was revealed by the former Celtic manager in a media briefing.

Both clubs exchanged statements in advance of a coordinated release but Celtic have since ceased correspondence to this end.

Shaw remains a Sheffield Wednesday player until the expiry of his current contract and will be available for selection for the remainder of the season.

We will make no further comment at this time.

The club could just have typed:

Dear supporters,

We've fizzed up again and allowed one of our academy products to sign a pre-contract with another club because we didn't try hard enough to keep him. We thought his agent was kidding when he said he had another offer. We realise this is not the first time and we can assure you it won't be the last!

The end.
