Can we do a Rangers??

Recommended Posts

Guest Hornsby

Rangers about to be sold to fans, so hope so.

Would take a wise, wonderful owner with winning ways, relevant footy and business experience, good advisors, an auditor, and ego subsumed to best for club.

No chance here.

Almost 10yrs ago Rangers were relegated to the lowest league division and most of their star players deserted them . Today's scenes of jubilation at them being confirmed as Scottish Premier Champions,  shows a club's fortunes can be turned around , with the right strategies and leadership!! Congratulations to Rangers . Don't be too harsh on me asking " Can we do a Rangers " ? Tin helmet firmly on 🤣

A quick post to explain because Rangers fans tend to avoid the facts. I heard Souness talk about “unfair relegation” on the TV yesterday which was laughable.

Rangers weren’t relegated, they were liquidated. The old Rangers company no longer exists, it is dead. Rangers bumped HMRC and a host of other creditors for tens of millions of pounds because they couldn’t afford to pay it. They were unable to agree a CVA once in administration and they were liquidated.

Because of that, the Rangers board who setup a new company had to apply for a spot in the Scottish League for the new company, and just like any other new club/company that applies, they had to start in the bottom division. That’s the rules. They weren’t unfairly punished.

Yeah plucky underdog Rangers.

Scot Div 2 the entire league has an attendence the equivalent to 3 Rangers home games.

From memory when they did make the playoffs up to the Prem they lost to Hearts?

Hearts won the league by 20+ points and Motherwell beat Rangers 6-1 in the playoffs.

With a following wind and new owner (or a massive change of attitude from DC,) we may get back in the Championship in 2 years then at least 3 more to be challenging for the Prem. As we're more likely to be facing a headwind I think we'll be nearer going into L2 than returning to the Championship.

I see no reason not to recover, although preimer title may be slightly beyond our powers ...

Watch the club die while doing nothing about it, while it swindles the taxpayer out of tens and millions then starts back up trying to tell everybody it’s won a load of trophies it hasn’t.

If this club goes bust and starts again, hopefully it has the grace to recognise what it is instead of trying to claim we’ve won 4 league titles.

always thought that was wrong .......i'm sure if a club was liquidated in england they wouldnt be allowed to start in league 2 ....they'd have to  kick off way down the pyramid .new clubs like aldershot, accrington, newport  had to start back at grass roots ......think rangers got very lucky

Amazing how these easy-to-confirm facts have been almost airbrushed from history. By their fans (of course) but also by so-called journalists, who know fine well what happened, but still claim they were "relegated".

Still its good to see the new club's fans havent forgotten their predecessor - that get together in George Square yesterday turned into a sort of tinpot version of Manchester 2008 :tango:
