It's not good enough. It's never been good enough. For years the academy has been poorly run. Too many coaches interested in their own development rather than the youngsters.

If they are that good then why are they 7th out of 9 behind the likes of Crewe, Wigan, Barnsley and Hull?

Serves to show what a good teams we had when we won U-18 and U-23 leagues. Sadly most of best players from those teams wont be here next season.

Step up not happening. U18 team mainstays  2018/2019.

Render Dawodu Rice Waldock Grant Shaw O'Brien Hagan Hammoud

Either already left or will have left at the end of this season.

Render, Dawodu, Rice,Waldock, Hagan will be struggling to be retained at the end of the season I think.

Before we start criticising the development set up, let’s not forget that it has produced two players who realistically should have earned us a decent fee. That we will probably get naff all, if and when Shaw and Urhoghide move to Celtic and Premier League Leeds, is nothing to do with the development set  up. Most sides would be more than satisfied to produce two players like that in one season

This highlights the mismanagement from top to bottom. Other clubs would have protected their assets but two players produced over how long? Compare that to United who seem to bring players through regularly. They don't just stop at playing for their first team they go on and play for top Premier league teams and England. We supposedly had an arrangement with Man City to have first pick over players they were releasing. Did they overlook David Brooks?
