edwinowl
Surprising what success brings Neil. We need to get back to normal life now first and football will eventually follow. I personally dont think empty stadiums have helped our side but then many sides could probably say the same. Once the tide turns ,and it will, the interest will return. Kids will buy shirts and so on

Even Hillsborough has to be better than that. Also, look at our fans and how they donate to charity and come together. Some of the best around. Yeah 100% That's the question of the thread really - how can football win back the lapsed supporters who now do other things in life? jonnyowl
Answer is simply really. Win games of football and if we play decent football doing it that's a bonus!
Marro
The thing is this. People want to be entertained and see attacking football. No-one expects to win every game but we expect the team to give it a damn good go. The last 3 seasons the team has produced performances and a dire brand of football that has made even the most optimistic supporter want to throw themselves off a cliff. Chansiri could heavily reduce ticket prices or give them away for free but it won’t make any difference if the performances on the pitch remain as they have been over the last 12 plus months.

Manwë
Play attractive and/or attacking football that gets people off their seats. Reduce tickets for kids, give them away if they need to.
TheEnchanter
There's a lot of collective issues that are watering the game down. For me personally, and some might think wildly different, one of the worst things is the match day atmosphere. Much smaller and insignificant clubs seem to have a strong influence from within the fan base and crucially from the club to try and create atmosphere. It seems at Hillsborough from the club, SAG and wider steralisation that the in stadium atmosphere is dead. Same with many clubs to be fair. Again, it is culturally embedded but you only have to watch small clubs around Europe to be wowed at the experience. I've seen 10k crowds in Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary etc whete I've felt more amazed than anything I've seen at Hillsborough for years (away from home is a different story to be fair). Part of the reason I fell in love with football was the experience and the crowd. Nowadays its sanitised in all areas. Less away fans come to Hillsborough, more home fans sit down and play on their phones all game, many are fairly quiet and happy to do so. I know many scoff or think why be bothered about the crowd. But for me it's 90% of the enjoyment. If the atmosphere is good the serotonin flows. Again, European fans from clubs big and small seem to nail this. Genuinely don't think it'll ever change here. Safe standing would be a start though. 4

Doghouse Daz
Can't see this lack of interest materializing. Lots of disgruntlement and hot air being bandied about regarding stay aways, but that's all it is, hot air. Once the stadiums are open they'll be back, in numbers. Some diehard objectionists may not, but all the better for me trying to snap up season tickets for the grandkids where we normally sit.

The people on this site are hardcore Wednesday fans and a number are fans abroad it's not Wednesday fans going on SWFC forums at risk of being lost It's the kids who have bought a console or a new Ipad in the last year who are on that instead of watching the matches anymore etc Owlstalk Shop
toppOwl
Some people will turn up no matter what (although these will have lessened) but the only way to get people back on side is to consistently win games, sounds overly simplistic but it’s a fact. NobbyStyle
I’ve just pulled this out of the “Nobby” archive from early 80’s Think the point of the thread is to re-engage the young un’s. Do the club do this sort of thing anymore?

MotherGoose
Specifically for this club: - Stop using my loyalty to bleed every last penny you think you can get out of me. I expect it from Vodaphone. I don’t deserve it from my football club. - Come clean on why refunds are taking so long. £90 is neither here or there. But if you cared about what I thought and didn’t think I’m not going to stop coming then you’d properly staff the refund programme. If there is a cash flow problem say so. It’s fine. I don’t care. I don’t like being lied to though. - Stop charging premium prices for rubbish. (See point 1) - I want and will go back. But I resent the club how it’s taking us all for granted. Others who may marginally able to afford it won’t. 3
