A personal view

Having followed the owls for 40 years tonight's events were nothing new. Yes we can point the finger at Izzy Brown for not producing a decent corner with 95 minutes on the clock but let's be honest a draw would have only seen us very marginally better off in the survival stakes. 

 

If we are somehow going to stop up then overtaking Rovrum isn't an issue, if we overtake Birmingham/Coventry /Huddersfield we will also overtake Rovrum. We need a Dave Jones 2012 style end to the season which although massively improbable is still possible. 

 

So where do we go from here? We can winge and moan as much as we like about Chansiri but he is the dude making the calls. I'm not going to go any further than that about our owner but the current state of English football is that most of our football clubs are owned by people who see it has a hobby. I have no doubt whatsoever that Chansiri does not want to see us relegated but I believe he doesn't know how to stop it from happening. 

 

Learning is a lifelong journey and I hope that the appointment of Darren Moore is a first step on the long road of redemption. 

 

If we are to be relegated then surely the season where none of us have to sit through it is when it's best to happen. I've cried when we were relegated in 1990 and the recent play off defeats but I'm certain I won't shed any tears if/when we are relegated this season. Covid/lockdown has changed everything and just like World War 1 society before and after will be unrecognisable. 

 

So where does these leave the team that you and I both love?

 

We are currently in the top 10 of English Champions a position that I'm very confident we won't relinquish in my lifetime (and one Dem Blades will never achieve).   I believe it is this history and tradition that first attracted Chansiri to us (for better or worse). 

 

We have been in division 3 on 3 previous occasions and each time we have successfully risen from the ashes.

 

Let us embrace a manager who puts 4 up front to try and win a game. 

 

Celebrate the most successful Yorkshire football team of all time. 

 

It is us the fans, the relationships, the memories that are the heart and soul of Sheffield Wednesday. 

 

We may be owned by a Thai millionaire/billionaire (please delete as appropriate) but its our team, our club, our ground. When we play that first match at Hillsborough in August I don't give a fizz what division we are in I just want to be in Hillsborough with my son, father, sister, brother and nephews singing Hi Ho Silver lining.

I know what you mean

The romantic view of it is this club belongs to the fans and we are the constant etc

The issue for me is that this chairman has pushed that to the point where the club and the fanbase couldn't be further apart

Whereas DM imposed a NEW system, picked one striker who isn't one, made late subs when we wee losing 1=0 and where was Rhodes which he has promised to make the most of?

I said it before and I'll say it again.

 

This football club has ZERO hope whilst this bloke owns it.

 

I'd urge everyone to get used to that. Darren Moore could be replaced with Guardiola, and whilst the level of coaching would be worlds apart, every single aspect of the club would still have to be micro managed by a man sat thousands of miles, who is both A) utterly inept and B) too stubborn to even accept it.

 

At the moment we're just a turd that won't flush. When it does though, the ripple effect that both the combination of relegation and Chansiri's ownership will ensure there is simply no way back.

 

I resigned myself to the fact some time ago that the club as we all know and love is sadly nothing more than a relic. A grand old name, but only that. No purpose, no energy and no soul.

To build a better future, you first have to accept the mistakes made previously. Chansiri never has, and never will.

 

That therefore leaves a huge problem, as he won't sell for anything less than a crazy price (which we won't be worth)

 

Nothing drastic enough will happen, it never does with Wednesday as apathy reigns supreme.

 

Chansiri needs to see gates right down to four figures and league two football, but knowing him he'll still call a steering group meeting claiming that our squad is better than United's.

 

And the worst thing about that? They'll still be enough people standing up applauding him.

 

It's pathetic.

 

I'll start building a better future by not putting a single penny into the present. Chansiri's way of running affairs is like getting a payday loan every week to pay for the one from the week before.

 

Enough has to be enough, no matter how hard that might be.

It's a fickle life this football thing. 

 

Don't know the fella that started this post. But I'm 100% with his views on Wednesday. 

 

Chansiri gave us best season for a long time. 

I think the man does want the best for us. 

 

First game of next season I'm sure we will have Blackpool away. 

We can re open Tower lounge. Take over the Manchester and by 3pm I'll guarantee that I'll have got Mr Gary madine that pissed he will be sat with us and not playing.

I feel sorry for the club staff.... i truly do, many put their life and soul into the club. 
chansiris destruction of the entire fabric of the club goes further than the pitch.
