Their winning goal... look at this...

Recommended Posts

I turned it off as soon as shaw gave that stupid freekick away. (yes i know they didnt score there).  Probably cos im supersticious.  Logic says your not likely to concede that late but this is Wednesday were talking about. More twisted than any fiction could ever be.

It's a great pass from the lad being closed down - but what on earth is Harris doing. I know he's not a defender but he was kept back because of his pace so he must have trained for it - headless chicken and totally ineffective.

As for Wildsmith - he always looks lost or surprised that he's in the net - like when you used to take it in turns going in goal with your mates in the park - he looks like the gangly lad who's a bit slow and generally likes to play CH.

Man City play for this. Any hint at all of a counter and you foul. Any hint. It is deeply engrained in the players. They don't even risk it. Even if the counter was by James O'Connor and his everbent knees as he snailed through the Man City midfield, someone would topple him. Lack of intelligence for me.

Man City boss games with possession and chances. Its a tactic you can use when the opposition seldom get into threatening positions.

When you're as crap as us, using that tactic we'd end up with 8 men at the end of each game.

Browns corner was shocking. All he had to do was beat the first man. At that stage of the game with opposition with 10 men to get caught on the counter would only happen if the corner was terrible. It was. Also 30 seconds before we got caught offside just when we needed to keep the pressure on Rotherham. Just for the sake of a yard to stay on side we gifted 90 seconds at least. It was a fantastic shot for the rotherham guy to score with. Dont blame Wildsmith at all really. He covered the near post more as a left footed strike is naturally going to bend to wildsmith left meaning it was much more difficult for him to score on Wildsmiths left. But he hit it sweet and the natural curve of the ball was not enough for it to go wide. Percentage wise Wildsmith was virtually spot on with his positioning. The guy just struck the ball so sweet and powerfully that no keeper would have saved it without being out of position too far to the left which would probably have meant the guy would have tried to go for the near post and scored much easier.

I dont blame Paterson but I cant help but think Rhodes would have finished one of the chances Paterson missed.

Brentford would have taken a yellow in that 3rd picture. Our players are too thick. The only time we actually want to foul someone ffs. So typical.

Been saying it since Cardiff away last season, we're not nasty enough. We're too nice to play against. We don't complain enough when decisions go against us as a team. We don't have that Ross Wallace type sh*thouse in the team to do things like that.

We do try

We're just not very good at it

We’re great at fairly innocuous fouls, or moronic ones against direct sides desperate to lump the ball in the box from all areas. So often we give away the ‘leggy’ free kicks/yellows where we just look too sluggish to keep up with opponents.

That winning goal was perfect for the ‘take a yellow for the team’ moment but we don’t seem to have that streak in us. Even when we did try with Penney in the first half he was simply shrugged off 🤦‍♂️

We has two players who should have taken their player out ( picture two ) before he got the chance to pass it to their breaking  striker. we are too nice , we must start being more cynical . It was the last minute of injury time ,we had rescued a point and it was the last chance they would get to attack us . someone had to take one for the team , even if it meant a red card.

Totally 100% hindsight but surely Wildsmith's positioning here just offers up the top right hand corner?

Yep he's stood in line with his RH post leaving a huge gap to his left and offering a nice big target to aim for.

Exactly this ^^^ any team with a will to win commits a cynical foul for the good of the team.

The best teams have a nasty/dark streak when required to get the desired result, nobody remembers the losers.

There are so many ways to win or lose games that until we learn the art of game management we will always be losers.

Imagine us down to 10 men, and having a last minute break away and getting 4 players in a position to score!!!!

We would have made it to the halfway line and then passed it back to Wildsmith.

Does Wildsmith know where the goal is?

Does he ever make a good  save like most opposition goalies do?

Nearly cost us when he needlessly came way out of his goal and ball went over bar, and nearly got robbed when faffing around in front of goal. He hasn't progressed since he signed a five year contract IMO.
