I'm sorry Moore but what aload of rubbish

Recommended Posts

Game wise I thought we deserved a draw and could have just pinched a win, but they scored against the run of play to take the lead and scored on the break from an awful corner, when we had all our attacking players on the pitch and were short of stoppers. Before the game though the whoscored website summed up our two teams by strengths and weaknesses, and unless we add some strengths and improve our weak and very weak weaknesses, we must be one of the nailed on favourites to go down this season. When you look at the strengths and weaknesses below, you really worry for us.

Rotherham have only 5 players who have scored more than two goals, but those players have scored 26 goals between them.

Wednesday have only four players that have scored 3 or more goals and they have scored just 17 goals between them! That is a big difference between two teams fighting to get out of the bottom three in the last 13 games, or so. If you then realise that several of our coaches including our lovely new man, have kept playing Reach out of position, so that he is mediocre, or just above average, yet when he plays on the left he scores and makes more goals, then you realise that we do not have time to keep making the same mistakes. Darren Moore must realise before we play again, that playing the best players in the positions where they produce their best results is essential. If we are to stand anything other than a very slim chance of staying up he needs to forget experimenting on match days, or in training and play all of our players to their strengths.

We do not have many stand out players, but in terms of assists and goals we need a good starting line up capable of goals, with Paterson, Windass, Reach and Rhodes the only players to score 3 or more goals, but Rhodes weak elsewhere, maybe he should start on the bench for most games. Paterson and Windass are not free scoring strikers, but they are the nearest thing we have to them, so play one in the middle and one on the right wing, Reach on the left wing (where he can score and provide hopefully more goals). In the middle; Shaw (scorer and provider), Bannan (provider) and another midfielder; Brown, Hunt, Luongo, Pessy, Hutchinson whoever is fit or suitable for the type of game, with Tom and Borner, if fit, or Dunkley if not, Penney, or Palmer at left back and Hutchinson, or Urhoghide at right back.

I have said for years now going back to before Chansiri came in, that we do not have enough goal scoring players, or makers in midfield or in defence. This is as weak as I can remember us being for goal scorers, which was why it was absolutely critical to get two or three high scoring players, preferably strikers, in the summer and failing that, in the January window. Not bringing those players in, even if they were on loan, is why we are in the trouble we are in now. What we are saying is not being said in hindsight, many of us said in the summer that Windass, Paterson and Kachunga were not prolific enough replacements when losing Joao, Nuhiu, Fletcher, Forestieri, Winnall, with Murphy, Wickham and Windass on loan and only Windass staying from those three. 8 attacking players left with only three attacking midfielders coming the other way, and one of those a converted/failed defender. We have collectively been annoyed at the situation and the fact that our wingers have not been used properly to provide our only natural striker with chances to score and we cannot continue to keep making the same mistakes or we will slide down league 1 next season too. It is not good enough to battle all match, making chances. we need to make goals. The problem has got worse each year, with us never being that prolific under Chansiri scoring only 66 in 2016/17, then 60, 51, 60 and 58 last season, scoring below the championship average for 3 of the five seasons.

Chansiri must have had ample warnings from the facts and figures, his advisors, the fans and from the coaches and managers that he preferred to sack rather than listen to what they were telling him.

We cannot blame Stuart, Carlos, Jos, Bruce, Monk, Pulis, Bullen, Thompson and definitely not Darren Moore, who only walked in the door a few days ago. We need to get behind Darren Moore and hope that he can make Chansiri see sense and take positive action for a change rather than spending all his time making excuses and looking for scapegoats.

Give it a rest, after one game, people seem to think they have worked Moore out?

Paterson could have had a hat-trick.

He's hard working but just doesn't have a strikers instincts.

Maybe not but his goal tally and work load puts other so called proper  strikers in the squad to shame.

I think coaching on the theme of scoring goals as an attacking unit must have been incompetent for years. Our main creative force likes to ping the ball around from inside his own half and our so called wingers are poor at delivering crosses. The coaching seems to be very old fashioned on attacking play when we compare our own approach to that of others.

DM is making it worse by introducing a system whereby there is only one striker..and he seems to prefer a slow, clumsy beefy  converted striker to be that one upfront, and the plonking of Windass on the left wing!

I’m baffled !

He’s been in the job a couple of days. Why do people expect miracles happening.

The players confidence is shot to pieces.
Therefore he’s hardly going to lay into them in public is he!
Some crazy comments on here at the moment

Hopefully the same old lies wont be used in every interview.

Player power has become a bit of a scourge nowadays. Sir Alex Ferguson would'nt have stood for it.

Actually Ferguson was very loyal in public

I would have preferred he say something along the lines of, " that was unacceptable. To lose against 10 men is never acceptable. I have now seen what some of these players can offer in this critical time and there will be changes for the next game".

To read the bull crap he's spouting after 1 game .........grow a pair man and don't be like the snowflakes you have inherited as players.

I think on the playing side he’s not done too badly.

Hutchinson has been dire in midfield...he did ok at the back but he's gone after 60 mins  in midfield. We should use him to see the game out with fresh legs

Not sure there is anything to disagree with? Big Dave's assessment is pretty much spot on.

It was not a vintage performance but there were numerous chances to win the game in the second half alone - Shaw and Reach blazing over from close range, Paterson’s header, the miss from three yards, Paterson failing to slide Shaw through for a 1v1 with the keeper. In comparison, aside from the goal I don’t recall Wildsmith being troubled.

it looked clear that we wanted to create overloads in midfield so it could create room for the full backs out wide to get crosses in. There was some pattern play but it often broke down due to a poor decision or lack of quality. Given where the club are that should be no surprise.

Their winner is a bolt from the blue from one of the worst corners I’ve ever seen. A total sucker punch. A good delivery and it have been the Owls sitting with three points..

Plenty for Moore to work on but there are some obvious flaws in this squad which is going to hinder any man in the dug out.

Good to see things from an outsiders point of view Liam...we did have more chances to win the game than we've had for ages... the fact that we didn't win was purely because given the run we've had everyone's confidence is low. One of the thing DM has said many times before is that the winning mentality has to be built bit by bit and every win or clean sheet adds to it. He had a glimpse last night just where the squad are with that so he's got a starting point...this is the beginning and after having 3 days at the job I'm not giving him pelters just yet

Simply not the right time to try to get the team to play yet another new systym.......they looked lost...They are poor at passing out from the back, are low in confidence on the ball, and run out of ideas ....recipe for disaster  as is a lone striker

But we all knew what went on - if you didn't meet his standards on or off the pitch you were quickly shipped out!!!

We are in a relegation scrap and confidence is already low

Our injury list is crippling us, our defence has suffered and the back up is just not good enough

Players with one eye on next season, contracts up and futures away from here being planned

Just a few reasons why DM isn't going to blow away the little hope still within the club

On a different note, what a difference our goal scoring record would be if BB could just hit the bloody target
