Rogers
So net around £32m, and Rhodes is nearly 1/3 of that. Jesus. Not that much in modern day football, and shows how crippling the Rhodes transfer is.
Guest Mcguigan
Transfer fees weren’t always the problem as they’re amortised over the length of the contract for FFP purposes. The ridiculous, over the top, almost PL wages were the big issue and hit us every season.
NeonLeon
The real killer when the next set of accounts are out, not the delayed set the one after, will be our rolling wage bill over 5 years. I can imagine the total sum being absolutely mind boggling.

lanzaroteowl
It's the wages that cripple you.
lanzaroteowl
How much have we paid in wages during this time? I bet it dwarfs the transfer fees.
pazowl55
If Carlsberg did Wednesday Transfer Business. 2018-2020 would be the best two years in the world.

i used to be sc_owl
The fees are bad but the wages... jeez.... dread to think exactly how much has been wasted there. Also, don’t forget wages paid for loan players who barely featured like Buckley
sheffield_dave
Not a single proper midfield general in any of that. Barely a hint of any pace. Nobody you could even say really replaced JJ. 3 fullbacks in 5 years, none of which are still here (although likely a profit on Hunt). 2 centre backs in 5 years, one of which is f*cking bobar. Theres been hundreds and thousands of words written on Owlstalk about what’s gone wrong under Chansiri, but you can throw most of them out and just look at this list. It tells you everything you need to know about aimless, negligent approach to team building over half a decade. 3
CircleSeven
Whatever you say Chansiri is a man of his word. When he said in 2016 after the Forestieri incident that he didn’t want to sell, any players he wasn’t kidding! The combination of players who cost millions and contribute nothing, massive wages (especially for ‘free’ transfers) and our inability to cash in at a player peak is unbelievable! Well, you have to believe it because it’s there. In black and white.
Whitechapel Owl
I'm amazed how small that list of players is, is that really them all? Just shows how little we've brought in, in recent years.
