IF you fail to go up, you'll at least face second season syndrome, sides will know what you bring.

also getting any worthwhile loans signed on full time is a must for you.

We’ve only got one player on loan.

it's called 'tactics''

we don't bother with them.

Not sure about that as the one tactic we seem to constantly do is to lump it out for a throw in at every kick off. Sums up our squad really.

It's more than that.

They have an excellent recruitment and scouting team and policy.

You'll not see Barnsley signing crocks, has beens and journeymen.

The American Dike is a prime example and they also accept that they have to move players on.

A recruitment model we should copy.

Apparently, this is what Barnsley do too, but they are actually good at it.

This is their best ever season since they dropped out of the PL, what was that 97/98?

What has made this worse is its coincided with our relegation or lets be honest no one

would be saying much more than Barnsley are doing alright.

They have got their house in order and have a decent young squad but it doesn't

matter how much money the Chairman has Barnsley can only get so far up the football

pyramid and I think they are pretty much maxed our right now tbh.

It's already been said when each one of our local rivals, even Doncaster, have a better

run football team as a business then it just makes our Chairman look even more of an idiot.

Dike, we’ve got a fee agreed for him, but he’ll probably choose to go to a top 6 teams under 23s squad.

i'm not in the slightest convinced that what we have for club management is capable of much of that.

IF they'd had to run 100m in under 13 seconds to be paid, many of our squad would have been on benefits.

As I said in another topic last week, Barnsley have applied the Moneyball tactic of finding players to fit the positions they needed. If you watch the Brad Pitt film Moneyball you'll see what I mean. The Barnsley owner was on tv a few weeks ago explaining it. They look for players who are very capable of doing a good consistent job but who for some reason are ignored by other clubs. They can then get them cheaper and they know the players strengths and weaknesses. It's all about research, not just 'oh he's a good player let's sign him.' Things have changed, let's get with it. Watch the film though it's very interesting.

This 100%.

It's worked for them over the last few years, but now we are out of the EU how will it work, same with Brentford.

Guest Rodger

Better manager than us..

Monk, Pulis and to a lesser extent Moore, are all to blame for this horror show.

In last 20 years I would say our on the field record is nearly the same as Barnsley.

TBF that's in the past and history, we are talking about what to do going forward.

Since Billy Beanes Pacific Media group took over from the Cryne family, they've been building a very good young squad at little cost.

@ken52 said earlier, they've adopted a type of moneyball system, which is proved to work.

As I said earlier, you'll not see them signing 'big names' journeymen etc. their policy is totally different.

Look at players they brought in and moved on for big pay days, Keiffer Moore, Conor Hourihane etc.

Times have changed due to EFL regulations, players wages etc. you can no longer just throw money at it, as we well know.

We need to get on board sharpish.
