I think it totally can

Let's be honest before todays game we knew our lads were exhausted

When the team got announced I had a few niggly doubts that we had the energy still and that we would be a bit leggy but thought we might be able to scrape through it

We were clearly knackered physically and mentally

Changing the team wouldn't have been the right thing either which puts Thompson in a no win situation

Realistiically he needed to make changes to freshen it up a lot, but when you're on the run of form we've been on you'd not want to rock the boat would you

Let's give the players and management a bit of slack tonight

We were knackered on about the 30 minute mark and went downhill from there

It absolutely was tiredness

I dont agree with some things you post but this is absolutely spot on. Shattered, poor pitch, rough and tumble opposition who make everything difficult and niggly... always going to be tough today.

We were found wanting a bit in the second half. We looked leggy.

We have to regroup. We have got to move on.

We knew that Millwall play direct football. I don't think Westy had much to do in the first half.

A really tough second half. We controlled the first half, but the penalty gave them the encouragement they needed and then the second half they made life difficult.

The penalty before half-time gave them that encourgament which they probably needed and they made life difficult for us in the second half no question.

They play very direct and they have got players you have got to deal with and we didn't deal with them.

The penalty was a big moment. I think Joey slipped, which was unfortunate but we have got to deal with that. We were more than in the game at half-time that's for sure.

Second half the other team are allowed to play and they played to their strengths and we were found wanting in the second half.

In my time as caretaker, the players have given me everything and we have got to regroup because we have got another big game on Tuesday.

For 'we look leggy' is a poor poor excuse, Thompson has picked the same 9 or 10 players for the last 4 games, we have plenty of players of similar quality who can come in, But instead we play the same ones.

The defending for the second goal was woeful 3 or 4 players just stood their whole their full back carved through them to score.

We have one good game one bad game. Coventry poor, Preston ok, Bournemouth not bad, Millwall poor, Wycombe we hope will be good because we need the 3 points nothing less.

They played at home and at home

We played at Bournemouth and then Millwall

Thats a legit reason for being fatigued

Forest played away at Coventry and Wycombe this week, won both.

Rotherham played away today on the back of a day less rest than we had after their last game, won both games, Preston, who they beat today had a week without a game. Don't think Rotherham have a huge squad to be able to rotate.

Seems we are too quick to accept excuses.

Nottingham to Coventry and Wycombe is hardly Sheffield to Bournemouth and Millwall.

Never mind the difference in quality of the teams

Yeah, Millwall great quality. How many games since a home win and how many have they scored again?

What about Rotherham? 2 games in 4 days compared to their opponents 1 game in a week. They weren't so leggy that they capitulated in 45 minutes.

They won this afternoon, scored 4 in the process too.

Against a side who are apparently being excused for being leggy yet actually got worse after they made 3 subs.

Rotherham played twice in 4 days and beat a side that hadn't played for a week. Leggy indeed!

Go and drive to Bournemouth, have a walk and an ice cream and drive back.

Bet you feel more tired than someone who didn’t

It's honestly not worth bothering to debate with people who think that fitness and distance aren't issues in elite sport mate

Go and play 2 games of football in 4 days. See if you feel more tired than a team playing once in 7 days. Didn't stop the mighty Rotherham getting two wins.

This thread - the thread that many of our fans decided to call Neil Thompson a liar

Who has called him a liar in this thread?

He said last week that we had 6 strikers, do you not think that is bending the truth somewhat?

Tuesday to Saturday isn’t 7 days.

Millwall

Tue - 0 miles

Saturday - 0 miles

SWFC

Tuesday - 470 miles / 11 hours on a bus

Saturday - 182 miles / 4 hours on a bus

Forget the impact on training and match preparation. That ain’t a level playing field of recovery.

Rotherham: Tuesday night - prepared to play a game called off at short notice. Wednesday night = 90 minutes of football.

Preston: zero minutes of football midweek.

Saturday: Preston 1 Rotherham 2.

Shocked given the amount of football and traveling Rotherham had to do. Guess they just have better fitness levels.

By your account any side that has to travel 2 away games in a row might as well not bother.

Truth is we played well first half and then capitulated in spectacular fashion. No excuses, just same old crap fragility showing through.

So just to clarify you think travel to the other end of the country twice in a week has zero impact on recovery?

Because frankly I don’t give two suites about Rotherham.

Point out where I said zero impact?

Furthermore, the sports scientists should be able to assess the impact on the squad and make decisions accordingly.

You should care about Rotherham at the moment because if we can't better their results then we are in trouble. They managed to play 2 games in a week with a second one against an opponent with no travel and no match fatigue and still win.

You don’t get it.

Im talking about the impact of travelling the length of the country 3 times in a week having an impact on conditioning

Your counter to that is a team who played at home and then had a 90 mile trip to Preston.

Youre actually embarrassing yourself a bit now IMO
