Transfer Deadline Day

When was the last time we signed a young and promising striker, with a potential future re-sale value? Gary Madine?

We signed Richard Cresswell in the 1999 on transfer deadline day from York City. (though back then it was in March not January)

Blackburn are set to sign Crewe left-back Harry Pickering, but he’ll be loaned back to Crewe for the rest of the season.

Pickering signed a new deal at the club last year, which contained a buyout clause of around £650,000.

And another one we were linked with is going elsewhere, this is like transfer deadline day bingo. lol

Surely Paul Cook would give us more hope than we currently have of staying up?

If it were him or no qualified Manager/Head Coach this season would you change your mind?

I never said different.  I'm indifferent to him really he's had success at low level but we have had managers before who couldn't bring their early success to the club.  However I would support him if he became the manager.

We surely have enough players as it is

If we are only playing one up top and Green Marriott Windass Paterson and Rhodes aren’t getting goals, maybe we should be asking whether the set up of the team needs changing rather than having six queueing up for one spot.

We might have enough players but we certainly haven’t got enough good players.

Eh! We signed Kachunga in the summer and he’s played all of a dozen minutes. Give him a break mate, he probably only just knows the name of his teammates...

Don't get me wrong I have high hopes for Green, he's going to be a long way short on fitness but hopefully we'll benefit from the signing 🙂

Current state of play for incoming transfers:

Barnsley - 2 in, both undisclosed

Birmingham - 2 in, 1 loan and 1 at £2m

Blackburn - 1 loan

Bournemouth - 1 in, undisclosed

Brentford - 1 loan in

Bristol - 1 in, free transfer

Cardiff - 2 in, undisclosed

Coventry - 3 in, 2 loan, 1 undisclosed

Derby - 0 in (potential embargo)

Huddersfield - 5 in, 2 free transfer, 3 undisclosed

Luton - 1 in, free transfer

Middlesbrough - 3 in, 1 undisclosed, 1 free transfer, 1 loan

Millwall - 1 in, undisclosed

Norwich - 1 in, loan

Forest - 3 in, loans

Preston - 5 in, 4 loans, 1 at £1.5m

QPR - 4 in, 3 loans, 1 undisclosed

Reading - 0 in

Rotherham - 1 in, loan

SWFC - 2 in, free transfers

Swansea - 3 in, 2 loans, 1 undisclosed

Stoke - 4 in, 3 loans, 1 undisclosed

Watford - 2 in, 1 free transfer, 1 undisclosed

Wycombe - 2 in, 1 loan, 1 undisclosed

It's not exactly open season and we've been above average in the number of deals we've done so far. There has only been £4.5m of confirmed fees paid and the majority of deals are free transfers or loans.

Maybe we can expect 1 more in, probably on loan, but we've already done more business than most.

Rhodes finally on his way out, Pearce and Ofroboh in but wish we'd bring in a striker but not looking good unless we pull a rabbit out of a hat with a late loan deal. Would've liked us to go for Jephcott but assume we can't sign a decent striker without selling someone.

 Ofroboh - signed for Wycombe

Wayne Rooney’s first taste of a transfer window as a manager is likely to be a busy one!

Derby County are closing in on three loan signings – Manchester United’s Teden Mengi and Rangers’ George Edmundson will bolster the defensive unit, while Stoke striker Lee Gregory is also heading to Pride Park.

*If* they've paid their players. Otherwise it's embargo time and the only taste he'll have is disappointment.
