Celtic agree personal terms with Liam Shaw

So how do you progress from winning 9 league trophies in a row?

I get the argument for going to such a historic club like Celtic but that's really it isn't it? The standard of football is better in the Championship, the teams are significantly better, the players are better, the media coverage is better, the pay is better...

This is why every single half decent player who goes to Scotland eventually leaves within 18 months - they realise once novelty of playing for iconic team wears off they are going to start regressing and waste their career.

No issue with him leaving us, the way we have been ran and how we manage our contracts/recruitment has been AWFUL in the Chansiri era. My issue is if he's leaving because he thinks he's going to advance his career and become a better player at Celtic, he's wrong.

Worked for Virgil van dykes.

Really upset by this.

The young lad looked best midfield player on pitch by a mile last night for us and we have Pelupessy on 2 year deal. Bannan reportedly just agreed a contract withus. Why did not Celtic try and sign him he would have walked to Scotland to sign for them. Obvious one looks to have a promising future the other is past his best and judging by efforts this year is in decline.

Absolutely seething.

Why play Shaw who won’t be a Wednesday player next year no sense in it  whatsoever, last nights game was abysmal the midfield were too far away from the forwards then only went for it in the last 5mins and why take off Rhodes and put Kachunga on who did absolutely nothing and some fans wanting Thompson as manager who hasn’t got a clue

So you blame the guy who brought him through to the first team in the first place. Brilliant.

Ha ha.

He played him once for 5 minutes as a sub at QPR.

Pulis put him in the team and lo and behold hes a decent player.

So yes i do blame Monk for not being able to spot talent under his nose.

Despite some views on here nobody bar Brentford has tried to sign Bannan in all the years he has been here and  that was hardly a sustained effort. Rest assured though all other Championship clubs would snap him up

Am disappointed with the Shaw situation.  Who knows how good / what career the lad will have?  However, we could have got more than £300k for him if Chansiri had tied him down to a new deal earlier.  The way the club is run is an utter shambles.

Agree 100% with others that it is a very sad day and indicative of the mess we are in when a young player decides to leave his boyhood club.

I regret the day Chansiri got his hands on our club.  He won’t sell, he doesn’t learn from his mistakes and we will continue on the path to disaster under his ownership unless by some outrageous stroke of luck we somehow manage to get things right on the pitch despite everything going against us.  We are well and truly ****** as a club.

I'm not sure what people on here actually want.

According to some,

Carlos didn't have a clue after a while

Jos didn't have a clue

Bullen didn't have a clue ... Twice

Bruce did have a clue for bit then fizzed off

Monk didn't have a clue

Pulis didn't have a clue

And now Thompson doesn't have a clue.

Does anyone have a clue?

Should it be one of the interview questions?

Do you have a clue?

Now do the same with Wednesday players

Then do the same with any Wednesday staff who have left the club

After his showing in the 2bd half last night, I think his head is elsewhere, so only play him if we are really desperate for bodies.

Bring Windass into midfield instead to give that area some energy and drive.

Midfield looked disjointed last night, not necessarily Shaw's fault.

Harsh though it may seem, there is an argument to keep playing shaw until he breaks, to save others legs for the run in (where we may otherwise rest a young player), conversly,  we could choose to give a player contracted for next season game time, FDB for example.

Ah right my mistake. Must have been a different Shaw that played last season against boro and this season against Rochdale and Fulham. Thanks for clearing that up.
